Not often we get news like this in my home town. Guy is clearly going away for a long time, no question about that. I can't understand why anyone who was planning such a thing would tell others about it.

That's crazy! …..crazy that he took it that far instead of exploring legal avenues.

Agreed. I think there will be more to it but theirs not many details yet. I wonder if issues have been building and this was the straw that finally broke the camels back. The fact he asked the landlords if Bryce was abusive leads me to think he was suspecting it for a while.

I have some friends who know both families. Some folks say Bryce was a really nice and well mannered guy, but others have posted apparent screenshots of some pretty disrespectful messages. Everyone has said the father was a very friendly and helpful dude.

The devil will be in the details for sure. For a father to go that far suggests there's more to it than simple abuse (…e.g…sociopathic/psychopathic tendencies, etc.).

Is it just the news coverage by News Copter (#), or is everyone now aware LA-area won't chase you, so they just run?

Every department's pursuit policy varies, but we all still chase………especially the California Highway Patrol.

OK, I got a legal question. And yes I understand it might differ from state to state.

I am considering an event of 4 course meal with paired whiskey tasting. I KNOW I can't drive because even if I sipped just a little each I am a lightweight drinker.

I have a friend who is far from a lightweight. He may offer to drive. The road home is lightly traveled and few cross streets. The odds of a problem very small. But not totally irrelevant.

Question is this - "If I am a passenger in his car and know he is a little impaired and I am also impaired would I have any legal issues if stopped for a sobriety test?".

Also wondering if I would be liable if he had an accident and I was a passenger knowingly traveling with him in a legally impaired state.

For the record - I am trying to line up a ride ala Uber (doesn't serve out here but we have locals who earn a few bucks on the side). Seriously do not plan on chancing this if we go unless a 3rd friend of ours who is a recovering alky (as in not a drop in 30 years) is the driver. More of a rhetorical question.

Great question!

When it comes to impairment, simply consuming an alcoholic beverage doesn't mean you're automatically too impaired to operate a motor vehicle. Some people can consume multiple drinks before they reach the level that will earn them a DUI. As a passenger, your sobriety is irrelevant since you're not operating the vehicle. Additionally, there's no liability on your part if he were to be involved in a traffic collision. The decision to drive (…or not) is solely the operator's responsibility.

I would love to be inside the cops heads to hear their thoughts when this happens. or when they run into a "sovereign citizen".

We love giving our K9 partners something to chew on. They salivate at the opportunity. Lol!

The sovereign types are fun too. We know it'll be play time.

I heard a K9 officer refer to his partner as a fur missile, and this is probably why.....

Great job from a SWAT team saving a K-9 about to be shot in the head.

How do I dispose of an old fire extinguisher, safely and legally. The dial indicates it's no longer charged. ABC.

Haha! The link above is probably a good resource. We have at least 20 old fire extinguishers piled up at the station. In the last few years, 2 have busted in the back of our patrol units; white stuff everywhere.

If it doesn't have a service company's inspection tab on it to call, look at the tags on extinguishers where you work and call that company. They are in the business of discarding extinguishers at the end of their service life, and know how to disassemble them safely.

I ASSume that California has the same commercial codes that we do here in the sticks on the east coast, where every extinguisher needs to be inspected and re-tagged annually along with a fixed service life after which it needs to be rebuilt for another so-many years.....

Good! Let the consequences of the defund movement and the anti-law enforcement sentiment take its course.
