L'historique d'entretien des coussinets de bielle est inconnu, ils sont probablement d'origine.
La vidange a été faite il y a moins de 2 000 km avec de la 10w60 de marque BMW.
Cartographie d'origine, les seules modifs moteur sont des test pipes + un axleback Gintani.


Je faisais quelques donuts/burnouts inoffensifs hier devant l'atelier de mon pote et la voiture a calé d'un coup, sans prévenir. Plus rien après ça, le moteur ne se lance même plus. Pas de gros bruit, pas de fumée, pas une goutte de liquide par terre. Le moteur s'est juste coupé net. J'ai cru que c'était peut-être la tresse de masse du moteur qui avait lâché, mais non.

Je l'ai rentrée direct et je l'ai mise sur le pont, j'ai viré le ventilo et l'admission pour essayer de faire tourner le moteur à la main. Elle est complètement serrée.

J'ai sorti les 8 bougies. Elles avaient l'air nickel.
La voiture ne sort aucun code.
J'ai vidangé l'huile pour vérifier s'il y avait des limailles, l'huile était propre.

Du coup, je me demande si mes coussinets de bielle ont serré direct sur le vilebrequin ? Si c'est le cas et que le moteur s'est arrêté net, est-ce qu'il y a moyen que le bloc soit encore récupérable ?

J'ai peur que ce soient les coussinets de bielle. Mais bon, impossible d'en être sûr tant que j'ai pas démonté le carter d'huile pour vérifier.

J'espère avoir quelques retours par rapport à ma situation. J'ai déjà une autre E92 M3 avec le moteur HS (achetée dans cet état), donc je préférerais vraiment éviter de me retrouver avec deux épaves coûteuses sur les bras.

Ce sont généralement les roulements principaux quand il se saisit. Probablement cuit l'huile, ce qui provoque à saisir sur vous.

Avez-vous inspecté le filtre ? Coupez-la ? C'est bizarre qu'un palier de saisie n'ait pas de métal dans l'huile.
Rien de tel que des burnouts et beignets inoffensifs.
Ce moteur était déjà sur le point de tomber en panne avant les burnouts et beignets. Ne pas les faire aurait rendu la conduite beaucoup moins amusante et le moteur aurait quand même échoué. Qui veut que son moteur tombe en panne avant d’avoir pu profiter des burnouts et des beignets?

Profitez de la voiture. Réparez-le quand il se brise. Et envisager de faire l'entretien préventif tels que les roulements de tige. Si ce sont les roulements principaux, vous êtes exceptionnellement malchanceux.

I'll check the filter today. I also thought it was odd that I didn't see any metal shavings.

It’s usually main bearings when it seizes. Probably cooked the oil, causing it to seize up on you.
Oil temps were fine while I was in the car, I wasn't bouncing off the rev limiter or anything. Only thing I can say is the oil smelled like fuel when I drained it.

This engine was already on its way to failure before the burnouts and donuts. Not doing them would have made driving a lot less fun and the engine would still have failed. Who wants their motor to fail before they have gotten to enjoy burnouts and donuts?

Enjoy the car. Fix it when it breaks. And consider doing preventative maintenance such as rod bearings. If it’s the main bearings, you are exceptionally unlucky.

Still of course need to drop the oil pan and see what's going on. But if its not a main bearing failure and the rod bearing seized onto the crank I wonder if this motor can be saved without breaking the bank.

Possible that one injector was stuck open.

Happens frequently with 2011 models apparently.
I don’t know about these cars and the injectors but I had a buddy hydro lock his AMG from leaking injectors. He learned AMG motors are pricey. Very very pricey lol

A tiny chance if its rod bearings. I am not an expert but wound say if it locked up due to a bearing welding to the crank, the crank will need more than a polish. And if it’s a main bearing, even less chance. The news is likely bad but let us know what you find. Take some good pics and maybe a pro line deansbimmer will see them and give you some feedback on what to do.
Well at least she went out in a blaze of glorious donuts.. with the picture to prove it. Most of them just blow up driving to work at 45mph.

Sounds like the motor was on it way out soon anyway, sorry to hear. I guess going out in a blaze of glory has its merits.
I still can't believe how many times this happen and people still won't replace the rod bearings. It just doesn't make sense not do bearing.

If your engine is toast you could have spent $2500 for a little extra insurance. Good luck spending under $10,000.
Curious how long were you doing the burnouts and what rpm range you were holding?

I've never seen oil pressure drop doing donuts.
Next logical question:
You gonna LS swap that thing?
I got another engine guys. I'll drop the new motor in and see what happened with the old one after I pull it out.
