It's been 3 months since the car was ordered and it's not here yet, The car was ordered june 18 at the dealership and today my dad went to check what was up and they gave him this: Image hosted on: img823.imageshack.us
Can anyone please explain well what the dates mean, and why the production was this month, I know about the factory closing, but still it was ordered a long time ago. And, if you can, please tell me your opinion on how much it should take for it to get here.:readthethread:
Oui, mais est-ce que quelqu'un peut donner son avis sur les raisons pour lesquelles cela a pris autant de temps et si vous le pouvez, dites-moi combien de temps il faudrait pour qu'il arrive ici par expérience.
Je ne sais pas ce qui se passe, mais ma voiture a pris comme 6week et je conduisais .I ramasser dans le centre de performance.Je pense que vous auriez dû mettre la pression sur ces gars il ya longtemps. Vous devrez peut-être attendre maintenant. Bonne chance
No explanation why but it clearly shows an estimated production date of July 2, 2010 and an actual production date of Sept 6, 2010. Dealers have certain allocations of each model each month. It looks like your dad and the dealer requested the July production. If their July allocation was spoken for and the factory was closed in August, that could explain the delay until Sept.

Not sure how the car gets to PR but if it comes through the US first, that will cause another delay. Should on a boat at this point if it was released to distribution on Sept 6th.
I see, there was a very similar car, but with red interior that arrived at the dealership at about the time this one would have arrived, maybe they gave that one the slot. But it's ok, we are in no type of hurry at all. Thanks all of you for replying. I think Puerto Rico adds about 4 days to the shipping nad I think cars arrive here at the dealership on thursdays.
Well, the site and phone status just changed to en route. WOO. I checked the wallenius and wilhemsen web site but no results appeared with the vin number. Should the dealership have the name of the vessel by now?
They should. My car is on a K-Line ship (Bosporus Highway), BMW is using other shippers to the east coast of the US. Unfortunately I have not been able to find a way to look up my VIN like you can on the WW website. My CA told me the line, the name of the ship, landing day in Brunswick GA and an estimated arrival day at the dealer.
My car was produced on Sept 6th as well (but it's a 750Li) and is also on the Bosporus Highway. It should arrive in port on Sept 27th or 28th (in Brunswick, GA).

You can track the ship using http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shipposition.phtml?call=3EXG9 or http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/shipdetails.aspx?MMSI=372981000 but unfortunately the ship has been out of AIS range for about 6 days. As it gets closer to the US, it should come into range.

I've been tracking a car that was produced on August 31st and it just arrived into the prep center earlier today.

I ordered my car a few months ago as well, but I was waiting for the new September production options (Combox Controller/6VC).

Hey Randy, the 750 is a sweet car! Was at my dealer today for lease end inspection on the 550 and my CA checked the system and it said the 28th. Not sure how accurate the BMW system is with ships crossing the Atlantic, especially with the storms out there last week. Either way, we are getting close!

Yep. Can't wait. I have a 2004 745Li and a 2008 750Li (turning in when new one arrives). The 2011's are beautiful, although there are a few things they changed that probably should have been left alone. :( Luckily when I want old school, I can drive my 2004. :)

Nice car! Mine is also en route to Brunswick. is yours on the sunlight ace? Because I think mine is, and the status hasn't changed for it since like the 19th

Nope, Bosporus Highway, which is a K Line owned ship. It would be nice if K Line let you track cars by VIN like W&W does. Oh well.

Randy
the W and W is not that good, i searched for it and did not find it, looks like they don't register all of them. Or maybe mine is also on that ship.
So I spoke to K Line today. The Bosporus Highway should arrive late tonight in Brunswick and offload early in the morning.

Randy
Nice, then ill check in the next few days to see if the status changes on the car.

The ship is currently showing "Moored" in Brunswick.

All cars have been offloaded (confirmed) and the Bosporus Highway is off the coast of Florida (not far from the Kennedy Space Center) heading south to Mexico.

Finally changed to preparation center. Looks like it was on that ship then. SOOOOON
Good to hear motortrend! My status on the website has also changed to at the preparation center... CA saying a week to ten days to reach the dealership.
Mine has to go through another ship trip so it might take a little longer, but ill post pics of it when it arrives.
press your dealer for the production slot date. if they have a slot @ status 112, you should get your car in 6-8 weeks. Some times the dealers have many order and few slots per month. They'll just place the order and won't tell you that your are slotted for production 2 months down the road. Actual production takes less than 1 week. It's the shipping that takes the longest, about 3 weeks.

Good luck.

Mine took just under 6 weeks from order to delivery.
