I am a surgeon and every hour I spend on the phone to someone at BMWNA or my dealer represents a significant opportunity cost. The unloading of the stress of dealing with this is priceless.
The guy who is selling the car has already been in contact with my dealer and has all the info about what transpired as well so there is full disclosure. He told me yesterday that if it isn't sold by Saturday he will buy it for himself to drive for a while.
The difficulty with the Lemon law angle is the dealer claims the car is now functioning as it is designed. I disagree. BMWNA is going by what the dealer says. I know the owner of the dealership as well as several of his "customer service" personal. Their local reputation is legendary. Not in a good way. The whole thing is a joke. I am voting with my dollars now and directing them over the Porsche and possibly Maserati.
I am glad that the majority of people on this site have had a great experience with their M3's. It is truly a great car, the best engine I have ever sat behind. I will keep you all updated with pics and progress of the Cayman build-some people have called them Cayman RS's and I think that is appropriate.

I've been to a few Merc and Lexus dealers and have had consistently good service-even without purchasing a car. I couldn't really figure out why it as so inconsistent with BMW.

I left a 997.2S to go M3, and I am already on the 991 purchase. The 991 is a monster and hits all the right buttons. The again, so does the Cayman/boxster. A 2004 Boxster S is what made me appreciate Porsche and mid-engine dynamics.
Too bad that BMW wants to be a ball-buster. I imagine that you are in a financial position to have made them a bag of money over the years! Keep us up to date on the porsche!!

I am the customer that buys a new car every two to three years. For the last 15 it has been from BMW. I liked their products and tolerated their service. Now I am done with them. They will lose out on another 8-10 new cars I would have bought from them......
Have you driven a 991? Very exciting car. Have a boxster race car that totally changed the way I think about driving fun and involvment. Thinking a Cayman with a modded GTS 3.8 motor is the way the go.

Ok, if you need four seats the M3 is hard to beat. If you only need two seats you are so missing out. Cayman R, direct, involving and feels oh so fast. Drive one if you are lucky. After you spend 5 minutes in one you will figure out a way to buy one.....
BMW has developed a very fair and evenly applied process for customer complaints. The problem is, it has been tuned to handle idiots who complain about idiotic things. Unfortunately, the result is that they treat everyone like idiots.
