I'd like to access the up down radio buttons on the right side of the steering wheel to determine if I can cut and re solder a few wires to correct the opposite functions of these buttons.

Currently when changing stations, pressing the up button makes the selector on the screen go DOWN and pressing the down button makes it go UP.

Very annoying and my warranty is almost up so I'm not concerned with what BMW thinks.

If the switch is fairly basic it should be easy to test out the wires with a volt meter and reverse them.

Anyone removed the steering wheel cover? Looks like three screws on the back side.
I have, there is an "OK" diy on this site somewhere. You stick a long, thin flat head screw driver into very well hidden slits in the back of the steering wheel to unlock some clips.

this DIY has a lot of overlap with what you are looking to do...

Unfortunately, I beleive the switch is not something that can just be rewired. I think it is wired in series and the resistance changes depending on which switch you push.

Good luck and share what you find.
I need to do this soon to fix some cosmetic damage. Haven't tried yet but am hoping this video is close enough to use:
