Dinan ECU Upgrade

Decided to take advantage of the Dinan sale on software. I had the ECU and DCT upgrades installed yesterday at a north Jersey dealer. The car stalled as soon as I pulled out of the parking space. Went back inside and got the service tech. He came out , car started right up , and said that this is normal for the first 100 miles while ECU adjusts to new software. Anyone with similar experience or informed thoughts?

Man...the tune should not be THAT different from stock in the first place and definitely not at very low RPM, but I don't have it so what do I know! My BPM tune worked perfectly from the first second I loaded it.

I've never heard of this? Stalling is normal for first 100 miles? Call Dinan directly...I would.

I have the Dinan engine and DCT software, mine definitely didn't do that.

Yes dealership is an authorized Dinan dealer. I did call the tech yesterday and asked him to clarify. He said that it was not typical but did occasionally happen as ECU needs to learn "new throttle parameters". Will be contacting Dinan hq tomorrow.

My car ran fine after the Dinan flash. It's a mild tune that won't hurt driveability in any way. In fact, it's the only CARB legal tune. I'd say it's just a coincidence and that your car will be fine assuming they flashed it properly with the proper tune.

not normal, but i'm interested in hearing about your experience once it gets fixed.

Would you say that the Dinan tune is worthwhile? I have 2 days to decide and am leaning towards it; I've had good results from Dinan before...

I figured it was worth $337 USD. The extra rpm are fun. But if you want cold start delete or 02 sim, look elsewhere. The power benefits seem minimal to me, but the delivery seems slightly smoother. I had previously flashed my 08 to 240E software -- maybe the changes are more noticeable if you have early factory tune software.

I just had both the DCT and the ECU tune done and no problems with stalling!

Did you happen to have just filled up gas as well? Very full tank?

Another thread about the ECU upgrade is linked below. My car feels smoother and seems to pull harder in the upper rpms. In stop and go traffic as I release the clutch, I no longer have jerkiness.
The exhaust sounds even more refined which translates to better.
Also I have only taken it to 6500+ rpm and it is feels peppier. Since the ECU install i have an increased emissions warning.

I am happier with it than without it.

No, about half a tank of 93. Why do you ask?

Quick update, 120 miles and no other issues. Guess tech was right. Thanks for all the input.

I have that issue and I've heard of a few others that do as well. When you fill up with gas the car sometimes stalls while idling. Sometimes it catches itself, but sometimes it stalls. It only happens immediately after filling up though, not entirely sure why...

Don't mean to thread jack but what are the benefits from the Dinan tune? I have a 6MT with the M button (not sure that matters), so what should I expect from it. thanks

Thanks! Very nice DIY. Definitely not worth the money or the trouble at this point, but if it ever gets really bad then I'll do this.

After having the tune done. I am very impressed.

I have E90 with DCT, GTS DCT tune with euro M dynamic, AA power pulleys, M exhaust and just a K & N filter.

The car is WAY more responsive in either M dynamic or normal drive.

Cold day in Toronto today and the car drives much better in cold temps...

End result; worth every penny, but I would have never got it without the sale.

I also did the tune 2 weeks ago. But only the DCT tune not the

Ecu. Was reading in this forum. Members suggest to opt out of the Ecu tune.

Now come to think of it should of did too. So you did feel a difference?
