Not really. Having had some experience with Model 3, I don't believe catching up to it is possible without a clean slate design. I didn't know model 3 had 300+ range - that's a myth that cannot be proven by EPA, correct?

Since Tesla put a fire up under everyone's ass I think every brand is going to bring something to the table that goes beyond in what Tesla is currently giving. I'm thinking with this model it'll be aim towards the more sporty driving and possibly some track focus like how the dual motor powered Tesla 3 is going for. I don't think they'll be able to match their range though. Tesla is probably going to be the lead in that for awhile.

I have a lead foot and regularly drive at ~280Wh/mile, which should give me ~270miles range. Staying at the middle or right lane speeds, I could easily do 300+ miles per charge. Dual motor non-performance.

I agree they are ahead because they had what 8 years head start? Yes Tesla is the pioneer, they showed the industry the way and also allowed governments to finally put more control over environmental issues/concerns. But in 3-5 years other manufacturers will catch up. All good for us.

Not to start a forum fight but just like m3 has 480-500HP according to forums, officially it is actually specified by BMW to have only 430HP. Which one do you believe?

BMW can't just drop its ICE offerings it has to give the customer a choice.

Because BMW isn't an all electric car maker like Tesla, BMW will simply let their customers choose between ICE, PHEV, or 100% Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV)

The only areas that Tesla is behind is build quality/manufacturing, and interior design/quality. everywhere else they are ahead. Their electric motor is ahead of everyone else so is their battery technology. Their network is also ahead and their chassis design is currently better than anything else available. I don't own one as I still see electric vehicles are still in the early adopter stage but if I were to buy one it would be no doubt a Tesla.

As soon as Tesla starts leasing Model 3 the industry will be turned on its head.

Model Y will be unveiled in March and the Tesla Pickup shortly there after.
