Replaced your rod bearings? Need your help!!

So in case you didn’t know, there has been a class action law suit pending for the last few years regarding the rod bearing problem.

In 2017, a judge denied BMW’s motion to dismiss the law suit... and allowed it to continue...

Fast forward to 2020... In May a New Jersey court denied plaintiffs’ motion for class certification in a class action filed against BMW in part because it found that plaintiffs had not proved there are at least 40 people who have paid to replace the engine rod bearings in their M3.

Can you imagine if like 1,000 people fill out that form and give ammo to these attorneys to fight on our behalf... It would be glorious.

We all just have to play our part.

YES. This is exactly what they need to prove to the judge that this is a serious issue.

It’s just filling out multiple choice questions... and some of them have option if you already paid to have it done.

15,000 preventative maintenance changes don’t prove a defect. The lawyers really need documented failures. They did not do a very thorough job, unfortunately, in initially gathering evidence or they would not have lost their class certification. It would not have been overly challenging for them to have posted here. This case will likely get settled with no admission of wrongdoing, a million bucks for the lawyers and a hundred dollar discount on a new bmw for us.

Might be worth noting this page is only asking for people in California or New Jersey.

You could bring a million preventative rod bearing jobs and dozens of blown motors to the court and still get no where. It just doesn't prove anything.

BMW washed their hands clean with the E46 subframe issues which was an obvious engineering failure, even to the blind. Rod bearings will be a walk in the park for them.

The discourse clearly states that preventative maintenance counts. There are options on the form for that.

Further, worn bearing that were pulled during the swap tell the story.

It takes 3 mins. Just fill out the form if you’ve replaced your bearings. It can’t hurt.

I am not a lawyer and I don't mean to be negative. I am simply saying that if they washed their hands clean off a thousand of these...



then a thousand of these is not gonna get us anywhere..

Of course case is already lost because of less than %1 risk. Even %5 is not enough to fight.When you go out tomorrow risk of accident chance is more than rod bearing spun trust me

If you replaced your rod bearings OR experienced rod bearing failure... Why not just fill out the stupid form?

It can only help. It’s not up to you to decide otherwise.
