Question and request re: Vortseiner aero boot lid

Hey all,

Waiting for the M3 to arrive really sucks, so I'm sure you can imagine all the research I've been doing in the meantime. I loved the CSL trunk on the E46 M3, and would love to get the Vorsteiner trunk soon after receiving the car. I do have a question, though. What is the difference between the double-sided and single-sided CF boots? Is the single-sided CF on the exterior and fiberglass on the interior?

Also, does anyone have any pictures with their Vorsteiner trunk lids open? I'm interested in seeing how different the inside of the of the trunk lid looks from the stock one.

Single sided in CF on the outside, FRP on the inside. The trunk looks like the OEM trunk on the inside and the OEM carpet fits on the trunk just like the OEM one so it would look no different than your OEM trunk open. Hope that helps!

cipher5 pretty much covered it. The single sided will have CF on the top portion and a black DVWP finish on the bottom. The double sided has CF on the top and bottom. Typically I recommend doing the single sided as your OEM carpeting will cover 90% of the underside of the trunk so there is no reason to pay for CF that will largely be covered up by the factory fittings.

I don't have shots of our car with the trunk open but the inside will look just like your factory piece. All of the OEM parts transfer right over including the grey carpeting, trunk locking mechanism and interior release handle.

The outside is basically one layer of CF over fiberglass, where as the inside is fully fiberglass.

So, does this mean the CF versions (single or double sided) weigh more than just the basic DVWP?

Also, what are the exact weights of these different combinations so that I can add it to the weight saving benchmarks thread? Nick@Jlevi SW? (I think OC's scale was off).
