Thread inspired by Color Hierarchy, by Seattle S65B40. Which is the original one with normal M3 colors and can be found here: Color Hierarchy

I pulled these colours from the Sticky Individual Colours thread in the photo gallery. Please let me know if I'm missing any.

These are my rankings for an E92. But to be honest they all look great and my top 11 are almost at a tie. :)
Pardon my spelling of color or colour in this thread. Im Canadian :D

15. Phoenix Yellow

I knew there were 2 reds!

And what is Byzanz, never heard of it.
BYZANZ! (a car I owned back in 2004, the color Byzanz Metallic was only available on 2007 E36 M3 Sedan only)

Looks like it'll conduct electricity in a jiffy.
I posted a link in the other thread of an Indianapolis E92. Though, in reading that old thread again, some think it is actually Barbera (I don't).

Im aware its an E92 Forum but you can order some of the older colors now (dakar yellow was an E36 M3 color originally) so I show my old car pic for representation purposes
Byzanz in the hizouse
Really hard to judge without seeing them all in person!
You forgot Ruby Red as well.
Nice. Now this is a lot of colors to rank, but here's my ranking...

Azurite Black
Carbon Black
Midnight Blue
Moonstone
Ruby Black
Laguna Seca Blue
Dakar Yellow
Monte Carlo Blue
Fire Orange
Hellrot
Frozen Black
Frozen Grey
Technoviolet
Phoenix Yellow
Imola Red
Power Green
Atlantis Metallic
Marrakesh Brown
Barbera Red
Black Sapphire Metallic
Titanium Silver

I'm a little biased towards the bluish blacks because I loved Carbon Black so much on my E46. It's really hard to assess so many different colors but thanks for putting this thread together. Now let's see some more Individual pics!!

I was just about to comment on why your azurite black and black sapphire metallic was so far apart in your rankings. and good list
I guess if you want pics you can check out that individual color sticky.
If youre looking for pics of the rare ones then lets hope people find this thread and post them here. :)

Yeah - i have always hated Black Sapphire. Not sure why, but it's such a common color on E60 M5s and it doesn't even look that good. boring. would rather have JB than BS.

It is barbera red.

Ok. How did you know?
looks like you have them all by looking at the list in OP. ITs amazing when you write them all down how many colors there really is
looks like the majority of the colors in the 2nd list could not be found on a E9X M3 example

Sorry, mkoesel, I just saw your response.

Initially I thought you were referring to THIS car, which the owner himself acknowledges as being a Barbera Red. That is the car that I was referring to when I said "it is barbera red."

After doing a little more research though, I realized you were referring to the car in THIS thread (or at least I hope so). As to this car, I can't definitively say whether it is or is not barbera red. My guess is that it is.

Here's a picture comparison of the two cars:

First Car - Known to be Barbara Red
Image hosted on: www.m3post.com

Second Car- NOT Known whether Barbera Red or Indianapolis Red
Image hosted on: www.m3post.com

REFERENCE CAR - This Car is known to be Indianapolis Red.
Image hosted on: img222.imageshack.us

Given that the second pic shares the same shades of purple and fuschia that are also found in the first pic (Barbara Red), and given that those shades aren't found in the third picture (Indianapolis Red)... I think the car is much more likely to be Barbera Red than it is Indianapolis Red. While I don't think anyone (with the exception of the owner) can definitively rule IN Barbera Red for a fact. I'm confident in ruling out Indianapolis Red.

Thanks for the thorough response, esquire. Good discussion. Oh, and yes, I was talking about the older E92, not the new E90 with the owner verifying the color (and the story behind it).

I agree with your analysis of the color. Studying it more now I am more convinced it is indeed Barbera than I originally had been. Still, it would be nice to know for sure. This topic has spilled into a separate thread now, BTW. I think someone is considering trying to order Indianapolis, and wants to see it on an M3. Either way, not sure if BMW will allow it or not. Its sound like "no" according to folks who seem to be in the know. If so, that's too bad as I like the color more than Barbera.

In my discussions with BMW Individual, they gave me a pretty wide ranging list of color's that I would be able to pick from. Indianapolis Red was not one of them. To be fair though, neither was Barbara Red. Between the two colors, I agree with you, I think Indianapolis Red suits the M3 better. Personaly, I'm a fan of Hellrot though.
