It appears that the base new Q7 uses the EA839 2.9TTV6, an excellent engine. I read the limited information on specifications and there has been no mention of 48V or hybrid technology with the base model and 2.9TTV6 engine. This is excellent news imo and this car is now high on the list to replace my Cayenne, whenever that day arrives.

I love the Cayenne but it will see 100k miles soon, and nothing lasts forever. 150k miles with the Cayenne could be achievable, and by that point the normal stuff would need replacing (suspension parts, interior stuff, etc.). The non-hybrid Cayenne choices are an anemic base model or the V8 S. I don't want the EA825 V8 engine because basic maintenance is a PIA and the well-known water pump failure is a much more intensive project that on the V6.

I am willing to go back to MB after a positive W166 base model GLE350 experience, but the brand produces junk now in terms of quality and reliability. And no model that I would consider has non-hybrid choices.

BMW has nothing that interests me.

Audi's have notoriously horrible quality. Engineering is just VW with lipstick. I can attest. Over 20 issues with our brand new Q8 within the first year. Audi NA sucks and refused to buy it back. Audi dealerships are snotty, just like Porsche. Interior screens are so fatiguing. For some reason, their black on white hues are boring and causes eyestrain at the same time. Their screens are angled to the ceiling so glare is awful, especially when the sun is shining.

Really, Audi excels at nothing. I'd take my chances on a Chinese car (if they were available in the US) before Audi. I'd buy a Lucid Gravity all day long (even though I'm not in the EV market) before any Audi Q7/Q8.

It's a nice looking SUV. Rear looks like a MB, which is a good thing. But Audi was one of the last to go with a long ipad for a dash. Now all the new models have given in to the crap dash fad. That eliminates any consideration from me. Along with poor reliability.

Thankfully their sister Co Porsche still gets it.

That Venue is a pretty cool looking SUV, so is the Seltos. If Hyundai would put the Genesis 300hp 2.5T in either one it would be a fun utility vehicle.
