oof - so much to say about Argentina and Switzerland... Switzerland played the better game here and looked like a better team... they completely shut down Messi who didn't do anything at all... Switzerland messed up massively w the yellow card which is clearly well deserved and were still playing quite well with 10 players... refs also played with Argentina as Fifa has already determined this world cup

You're getting a france v argentina final lol... at least that's my guess... England is probably the best example of a team that I don't how they got us far as they did.
England deserved to win….played so much smarter. I was really confused why Norway kept dribbling when they got close to the box instead of shooting or lofting it up…. Like they were waiting for a play that never came. Couldn’t “one touch” at all
Ball hit the spider cam line for one goal. One of England's goals were bad.

Lets see if someone has a rant locked and loaded for this. :laughabov
England can definitely beat Argentina, I think they match up well. Just depends if they can break the curse.

Norway got exposed in that game, but its the nature of the tournament. The opponent quality steps up massively each round.

I did not see that coming, but Spain convincingly bounced France.

England-Aregentina will be epic for all super-player duels and the historical undertones.

Well done to Spain.
Man, I really had my hopes up for England, even more than in past 5-6 World Cups, but they went on a defensive that just didn't work good, apart from the goalkeeper.
Congratulations to Argentine offense, they pressed on more and more and it turned up excellent for them in the end.
Hopefully in the final match we will see great game with many goals :)
1-0 is not a score you can play to maintain, not against Argentina.

Argentina vs Spain will be epic

Argentina vs. Spain will be excellent.
Spain has conceded only 1 goal at this world cup, and Argentina has scored 19 goals in 6 games (~3.2 per game). Somehow, I'm betting on Messi to come through ... again!

France vs. England will also be fun and likely high-scoring - neither team has anything to loose, and France wants redemption for the egg they laid against Spain.

And then there is the Belgian GP - this weekend will be epic!

I am so sorry for this England

Spain pls win this... anyone but Argentina.

What a matchup! Watching Spain the last few matches, I thought, "who could possibly beat them". They play as a team and they literally don't know how to give up a goal! Then, I see Argentina snatch victory on will, determination, and amazing individual talent. I don't bet anyway, but if I did bet, I'd stay away from putting money on this match. Who knows? It will be an epic final.
BTW, I just checked and the cheap seats at the final are going for over $8,000 apiece. It will be my la-z-boy and Fox One for me.

The Saturday match will be great too. France would like to get past the egg they laid (as you put it) so pride will be driving them for sure. England will toss out that prevent offense or whatever that was they went into after securing a 1-0 lead against Argentina. England wants to beat France in the worst way. They also also want to score a lot of goals and show their coach that he screwed up in the semi finals by not letting them do what they do best.

I'll be watching every minute and I'm just becoming a Futbol fan during this World Cup. I was indifferent before but I'm hooked now.

Me too. It's too bad they can't have a do over and replay the last 40 minutes with the same strategy they played the first 50. I know I'm over simplifying and admit that I don't know the game that well, but it was like a completely different team after they scored. On Saturday, we should see a very aggressive nothing-to-lose England team. France, of course, will be ready.
In all sports, there is always discussion among fans about who is the GOAT. That's what fans do. They take sides, get emotional, and then get out their keyboards and let us all know how they feel.

Since I'm a new fan of soccer through this World Cup, I'm not carrying the burden of history, emotion, or country pride. I'm just seeing what I am seeing. All of the negative words about Messi are expected because that's what fans do.

Here's my acid-test question: If you were picking players for your futbol team, who among you wouldn't pick Messi if your goal was to win games? I'm guessing that even the haters would pick him.

I don't think comparing players of different eras is very easy to do objectively. But, in this era, Messi is among the best players no doubt.

There could be a problem with Argentina's win over England as a political poster was shown by the team which FIFA's strict rules forbids and sanctions may take place. Footballs lawmakers IFAB also have clear rules banning political statements on the pitch.
Can't believe these guys!
Latest is that FIFA has now launched an official investigation into the Argentinian mens football team after its players displayed the politically sensitive banner.
EPIC 3rd place game!
6:4 England:France, but it could have been 12:16 ...

That 3rd place game was so great, my kids (6 and 3) even enjoyed it a lot and they are usually not so easily captivated.

Its a nothing burger, non-story. They will pay a small fine in a few months.
Congrats to Spain - they deserved it... but overall an incredibly boring final especially when compared to yesterday's game.
