Hi, i just recently got the 2011 E93, And according the manuel the shift light suppose to come on from the cluster. I tried turning it on and all, but it still doesn't, does it require dealership cluster programming or it just looks.
i have a DCT. Is it suppose to come on, or its just for looks.
Thanks for any INput.
go to your M drive menu on the iDrive and set it to on

press the M button

and there you go
thanks. but i did that already, and still nothing.
How high are you revving the engine? They don't come on to 6,500 rpm or higher...
If you haven't had the 1200 mile service you won't see them. As stated above, you need to be in upper RPM band to see them................Phil
thanks everyone for the reply.
Yeah i just got the 1200 miles done last week. maybe ill try reving it pass the 6500rpm.
just weird, because the manuel said, it should come on when you rev 3500-5000. its orange then turn red.
Just remember, look at the road not at the shift lights :)
Have to be in S mode and have them set up to go on in the M button setup table.
If your engine is warmed up, probably takes over 7000 rpm to get them.

My flashed before I did the 1200 service ( yeah I know...:D)

Yeah the lights are active, you're just not suppose to rev that high until after service. At least that's what the manual and the window sticker states  :burnrubbe.................Phil

Ha, yes. Service done today by the way, fun to burn rubber rolling out of the dealership parking lot. The best part is just not having to constantly keep an eye on the tack making sure I don't mess up and go to high.... what a fun car.
My shift light came on only once so far. Yeah, I mostly drive city. But it was quite exciting to see the light moving and hear the engine roaring with fury to redline. It's intoxicating, to say the least.

Dude, if shift lights would turn on starting 3500 my car would have them on ALL the time. It varies in each gear and depends on how fast you're accelerating but in general it takes at least 6000 to turn them on.

Agreed, I'm always driving around at 4k so I can stomp on it if I want. There's a 7th gear in DCT?
thanks for all input guys! you guys are the best.
Yes the DCT has the 7th Gear.
