tonymac1 wrote Just curious, is it possible that I trade in my car with a higher value than the new car that I want, which results in profiting extra money from the dealership?
Interesting, but what in the world are you trading in??!!
Well, Monterey BMW also owns the local Porche franchise so if you have that money level kind of trade, I suppose it could happen. But if your talking about a relatively new Rolls, I'm not sure how well received that would be on their used car lots. That's the thing, they appeal to and attract a certain market. If they perceive your car is a hard sell to their market then they will conclude it's going to sit on their lot for a long time. That means they will lose money unless they get your trade dirt cheap. Again, unless your willing to accept a loss on your trade, best to sell it yourself. If you don't like selling your car to the public, you might be better off selling it outright to a dealer who sells the brand you have.
Which leads to another possibility. Monterey BMW is part of a corporation which owns many dealerships. If they own a dealership with your brand of car then that could help your position. You need to ferret that out.
