Euro rear fog light switch with silver trim

I've searched the forum and am seeing conflicting information, therefore I could use one end all be all answer. I apologize if this question is in fact answered already.

Can my 2011 M3 sedan headlight switch be replaced with the euro switch with silver trim to activate the rear fog lights?

If so where can I get the euro switch with silver trim?

I got mine from Leather Z. But it's not silver! I'm sure it would work if you can find one. Let me know if you do and I'll swap out my non-silver one.

You could buy either one before BMW banned importing those switches to the US. You could always modify your stock switch for them to work (a simple job; just search), but you'd lose the symbol and light. Maybe a European buddy?? Good luck.

I just brought a europe switch from germany it was around 80 Euros. The install is easy. All you have to do is take the trim off for the vents and then you will have access to the swith. So the install is easy. The fog lights work very well with the new euro switch. I also found the euro switch from a seller here in the US. I hope this helps. Oh by the way the part number is :

Oh what you also could try if you are technically inclined is to open the swith and exchange the turning know with your silver trim knob.

bro, i was looking to buy that switch too. but then i found how to modify the stock switch and it works perfectly!!! plus you dont have to spend any money buying a switch. Yea you wont have the light up symbol but hey its only one button...

Do a search for "lego" or "legos". I did it a year ago and it works perfectly.

The part number provided by CUD is a switch for a a regular (non M) 3 series. If you look up that part number the switch you see has front and rear fog buttons on it, the one for an M3 only has a rear fog button since E90/92/93 M3's were never equipped with fog lights on the front. Although the switch mentioned above will work, it is not the correct switch for the M3.

The part # on the box my euroswitch came in is 61319169400. This switch is the proper euroswitch for an M3 with the silver trim and the rear fog button (no front fog button on my switch).

IND got the proper switch with the silver trim for me and I am sure if you call them they will get the proper one for you too.

The 404 part number has both the front and the rear lights and they are used in Europe for all the M3's and it is the same part. I compared it with the switch I took out of my 2009 M3 car and looks identical, except that 404 switch has the front fog light switch which I am aware of is not used in the M3's because they don't have fog lights. So, yes the front fog light is INOP but it looks great, it is the same switch that I took out of my M3 and even BMW Europe confirmed that the European M3 switch with the chrome trim is being used in all their 3 series including M3's. I was in Germany and I went with the BMW dealer through the parts list. So, just FYI. You will be fine with the 404 part number. However, if you want to go just with the rear fog light swith than you should go with the 400 number. I am thinking about reconfiguring the front fog switch so I can use it for my front PDC system that I am currently working on. That's why i bought the 404 switch.
I am more than happy to supply pictures and you guys can see how identical it is to generic US M3 switch. Also, it looks great at night; the whole light switch panel is illuminated including the front and rear fog light switch. I cannot be happier with my choice and decision and two switches for the same price as for the the rear fog switch only - not bad.

P.S By the way, all the european parts that end with the 400 numbers on the swith do come with the chrome trim that the M3 has. Believe it or not the European switch has the crome trim regardless of the model. I don't know why the US has crome/ no crome option.

i have a genuine euro switch with auto function AND rear fog button from a 2008 E92 M3 if anyone is interested (no silver trim).

yet another rear fog light post. good luck with your search, but please don't be the person that drives around with their rear fog light on when there is no fog.

rear fog light etiquette:

only use in fog when there are no vehicles behind you. the purpose of rear fog light is for approaching vehicles to better see you in DENSE fog especially if there could be a large speed differential.
once a vehicle is clearly visible behind you, turn the rear fog light off.
