Need held on side gill replacement!!!

I just recieved my vorsteiner rear diffuser, cf grill, reflectors, hood vents, and cf side gills.. everything was installed with no problem but i cant figure out how the side gills come off.. does anyone know how??

check out the DIY... its pretty tricky to take that SOB out... you need pressure if your going to use your fingers....

You can also use a flat head screwdriver but you really have to be very careful since it will chip your paint if your not careful enough.

We removed the wheel and fender liner and it worked like a charm. Using the screwdrive will most likely damage your paint.

Here is a video of the 1M install. The E92 is similar. Hope it helps....

Pull while also flexing a bit from top to bottom. If you are nervous you can mask the fender a bit with tape to protect the paint.

NO, NO, NO! Do not use a screwdriver near the paint and for heavens sake, don't take off the fender liner! Check the DIY section and read my posts and check the other DIY. Use a piece of shipping tape to make a little handle to hold the gill. Hold it with a towel and pull as you wiggle it. It will pop right out completely undamaged. I researched this when I bought mine and it worked like a charm. Made all the other techniques seem insane. I couldnt imagine prying it with a screwdriver. Plenty of posts about people chipping their paint! Don't let it happen to you! Post your results!

The m3 gill is definitely not as easy to pull out. The 1M gill looks like it practically falls out! You need way more force on the M3 and the gill is located much closer to the fender.

I think im going with you on this one.. They sent me two of the same m3 badges.. Ill wait for the replacement and then try.. I just got this M3 a two months ago and I would die if i scracted her.. lol. I also just put on the Vorstiener rear difuser, cf front grill, cf rear spoiler and front splitters, white reclectors, cf vents, and the lux angel eyes.. It looks pretty sick..

I just grabbed a hold of mine and wiggled it until they came out. The first side I did only took like 30 seconds, feeling good and moving onto the other side the bugger was really in there and it took me around 5 minuets...

5 minutes of pain you'll never get back! Reach for the packing tape and it will take you 15 seconds a side! Really remarkable tip from that other board member. Too bad there are no rep points here, I would have given him some!

Btw, it will be even easier to do with two people. One holding down the gills and Wiggle, the other just pulling the tape. Good luck, OP!

Thank you guys for all Ur help!!! It worked. No scratches, and no pain. The tape thing is the way to do it, hands down. I have to admit I didn't think it was gonna work but it did. I can't wait till I show the pics. Before, while, and after. It looks great.

It was easy. The thing was, you had to pull hard and it's a little scary.. The sound it makes doesn't sound to good. It's nerve racking.

I'm totally on board with the packing tape method. I have the BMW M3 Edition side gills coming from Tischer, and I'm going for the tape. There's no way anything but the tape, human skin, and possibly cloth are getting anywhere near my car.

My car is less than a week old. If I would have thought that metal tools were required, I would be taking it to a reputable body shop and having them do it.

THIS! I walked up to the grill, pinched and yanked in one swift motion. Popped right out. No broken tabs.
