I'm doing it! 19's or 20's

Hello all,

I'm going for it this spring! getting lowered and adding BC forged HB 29's

Really on the fence deciding between 19" and 20" rims. If I go with 20's will my factory brakes look too tiny I like the idea of a little bit more side wall on my tire, but part of me says just go big and don't look back

new trend is going small, avoiding 20s.
for example:
BBS CH-R 20s: Costs more than CH-R 19s but in used market, CH-R 19s sell higher than 20s.
Volk TE37 18s: Both 18s and 19s are popular but you'll see more people jumping on 18s than 19s these days.
Volk G2: 18s or 19s will sell quick (if you ever find them in used market) for good money but 20s have hard time finding buyers.

For good look, comfortable (enough) ride, performance, I recommend 19s over 20s.
(I personally owned OEM 18s > OEM 19s > SF-71 19s > BBS CH-R 20s > Volk TE37SL 18s)

Thanks for the input. Since i'm going to lower it a bit, the 20's made me wonder if any rubbing issue might occur?

Whether you go 19s or 20s, those HB29s will look great! Let me know when you're ready to order

20s will mess up the fender liner. I had 20s with coil overs and hitting a pothole caused my wheels to hit the fender and crack it. The fender liner is also worn out and has some holes in it due to rubbing over time

how about go with a reputable brand like: BBS/Volk/Advan instead of some no-name brand from Taiwan?

Im from Taiwan and I wont even buy junk like this.

btw 20s will look fine. I have LMs and LM-Rs in 20s and I dont have rubbing problems, and if your brakes look too small, get Brembos

Don't get 20s! I had a set on my M3 and now some on my M5. Every time I go over some kind of bump over 30mph I cring cause I know I'm about to rub. It's very annoying and not so awesome when people are in the car and keep asking what the hell that noise is. However, if your considering it after myself and these other people said don't so it then your probably going to get 20s. They will at least look great.

I went 20s....no regrets.

BBS rims are awesome no doubt, but its double what I want to spend on a set of rims. I've talked to two reputable distributors one being Active Auto and Sonic MS. Both said they were nice rims? Guess i'll find out.

You get what you pay for 99% of the time.

Nice rims.... will you keep your oem wheels? If so go for 20s as they look great (but the ride is a little harsh), then when the winter comes you can always go back to your oems.

Car stays garaged during the winter. i'll keep the oem wheels in case I want to go back to stock and go for an F30 M. Don't know if i'll ever be able to part with the V8 though.

wow, i will admit 19" do sell more for the e90/e93 ( M3) but i personally think either size looks great. heres a picture with 20x8.5 and 20x10

Most no-name "North American" Forged Wheel brands are made in Taiwan, they just keep it hush hush. At least BCF has no qualms about where they're made.

We personally vouch for the quality of these wheels. It's in the small details that count and the presentation surpasses that even of some of the biggest Forged Wheel Names currently in the industry.

I hear the ride on 20's is much harsher than 19's, and not worth it. I would never get 20's for this car. Only 19 or 18 inch.
