... the Akrapovic Evolution Diet. So last Saturday finally I got the Akra Evo installed on my 2011 Space Gray E90 M3. After much debate in my head, and following Tech's advice I went with the carbon fiber tips instead of titanium. And boy am I glad I did. The car looks awesome!!! The CF tips go very well with Space Gray. Thanks for the advice Tech. However, I'm afraid I won't be exchanging tips any time soon... LOL!!
I waited a week of driving before posting brief impressions on the exhaust, and here they are:
Quality: Exceptional. Second to none. And it is ultra-lightweight. The stock exhaust is a dinosaur compared with the Akra. Sorry, I don't want to offend anyone with the stock exhaust, but it is.
Sound: For me, it is PERFECT. No drone, not too loud, not to tame, except for the cold start which is pretty loud, therefore I deleted it with the ESS tune (I wake up very early and don't want to disturb my neighbors, lol). Hard acceleration and WOT puts even a bigger smile on my face than I already had just for getting in my car.
Performance: The butt-dyno says the car is faster. Pulls stronger even in the lower rpms but the magic really starts after 5k. I feel like I have a new much faster car (part is probably in my mind). I never complained of low torque in my car, but I can say that she is more eager to go now even at low speeds. MPG's are destined to suffer as I can't resist revving the car more just to hear that exhaust note.
I wanted to thank the M3Post Forum in general since 99% of what I know of my car, I've learned here. I have never modded any of my previous cars other than changing the air filter. With what I've learned in M3Post, I have been able to make changes to my car to the point that I feel this is the perfect car for me at this point in my life. Rest of mods (except for the exhaust and pulley, all installed by me thanks to YOU all) are included in my signature.
Special thanks to the members who replied/commented on my pic request thread (http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=690183). And last, but not least, a very special thanks to Nate@IND. He answered ALL my questions, and doubts while in the process of getting the exhaust, and believe me I asked/bothered a lot. He continued to help even after I took delivery with doubts I had. Words such as Exceptional, Superb, Excellent, Impeccable, Prompt fall short in describing his service. He is definitely the go-to guy for modding an M3.
In the end I'm extremely happy I went with the Akra Evo and with the CF tips. I've heard/read this before but had to say it again: This is how the car should have come from the factory. I've included a few pics of my car showing the exhaust, LUX H8 and iND's cosmetic package. Please bear with me as I'm not a professional photographer but I wanted to share anyway.
