Congrats!!! Enjoy driving in Germany!!!
Congrats to the other '13 owners! Mine arrived in Baltimore yesterday and should be to the dealer late next week. Have been ordering mods during the wait. Quick question on the break in period and mods. Looking at some of the ECU options (Turner, Dinan, ESS, etc.) and have looked at all those threads to form opinions. My question is whether installing one before the 1,200 mile mark makes any difference at all? Did not take this step with my prior cars, so looking for anyone with an informed opinion on the topic. Thanks

Not sure there's any hard data to support, but I'd recommend tuning after break-in to allow everything to do so in normal conditions as BMW designed them to.

I even think using the Power setting might be a bad idea as it alters the throttle settings. I used it during ED but have second thoughts about it now.
Concur on the lack of hard data - I've looked in all the places that would seem to make sense, but I'm new to this and may have missed something. Your approach makes sense - thanks for the reply.
Just received word that my '13 is at the port of exit awaiting a shipping vessel. Anyone know how long it will take from this point (my dealership is in Maryland)?

Thanks

Well, mine arrived at the port in Baltimore on the 3rd...

Still waiting.

I'll let you know how long mine takes.
If you're interested, there is a great thread on this exact topic - 23 pages of everything you'd ever want to know and more. (Search "How to follow a new BMW from Order . . ." and you'll see it).
Mine left Bremerhaven on 10/24 and docked in Baltimore on 11/7. The ships are on a set schedule. Unknown part is time from VPC to your dealer. Depends on if you have any VPC installs (and in rare cases VPC repairs) and then how many cars are going where. Your dealer gets a report every weekday on their inbound inventory, so they should be able get your delivery date to within a few day window.
MINERAL white is just simply awesome.
Well ladies/gentlemen, after a loooooooooooooong 11 weeks, I can finally say i am officially apart of the class of 2013. I finally picked up my AW, ZPP (prem package im a noob) 2013 and I must say...it feels good. It was a long wait but I am actually happy i had to wait this long, it really put things into perspective. In any case, I want to thank Julie for this thread, it was like therapy for me, and all of you who posted pictures THANK YOU!! I just got home, and because its fall barely any good light to take photos, tomorrow I shall! again thank you all for the posts, and words of wisdom throughout the wait!

Arriving on December 18th just in time for Xmas :)
At PCD - not much else to say on this... awesome experience. Nothing like sneaking down at lunch to see her for the first time behind glass(still had to wait until after the afternoon factory tour to take delivery). Ashamed to say this is a pretty emotional experience lol. What a great way to take delivery:

Awesome cars.
Delivery update. After the long wait I took my delivery today. Instead of having it shipped home (abut 400 mi) I saw good weather and decided to make it a road trip with my son. Unfortunately, the trip lasted all of 65 miles before the car dumped what looked to be most of it's oil! Engine block was coated with oil too. Rather than risk driving it any further, the dealer sent a flatbed. Now finishing the trip in a loaner - Not the way I envisioned this day ending and still can't believe it. Will be waiting for a call tomorrow to find out what happened. Sorry for the buzz kill tale, but sharing just in case any others have had a similiar experience. Will update the Class when I have news.

sorry to hear, certainly not a good first day. :( I hope the dealership treats you right. It is quite an unusual situation and it might have been related to the dealership not screwing on the oil cap tightly after they made the final checks. I can't imagine how that much oil would spontaneously explode under the hood of a new car.
Just joined the class of '13!!
Signed off yesterday, about to get my production number.
Traded in my 2011 'STI.

AW 6mt ZCP.
Cf Roof

Got a "Striped down" version.

I love to drive, and didn't want all that other premium package stuff (yes luxury lol) getting in the way of the fun......Or maybe I didnt have the extra 10-15k to waste.

Congrats, that could be one perfect track car. The set-up you chose reminds me of the recent review by C&D. They had an identical car.

Congrats! I did the same.. no packages at all for me. Not even ZCP... although I want those wheels.
Got word late yesterday that they traced it to a bad gasket on the oil cap. Further searching revealed it's happened to more than a few others out there. What still doesn't make sense is how all that oil could have come out after we parked. (Unless it was sprayed around under pressure while driving and gravity did the rest once parked?)
Dealer has replaced the cap, steam cleaned the engine bay and re-detailed the exterior. They will put it on a single car carrier back to me Monday and retrieve the 550 loaner.
Genuinely bummed to have missed the entire long weekend and will now blow most of a Monday off that was to have been spent getting acquainted and tackling the mod list. But I realize it's a small price to pay in the long run. Post-mod photos to follow.
OE build was MR/black cloth with DCT, Comp, Performance steering wheel, CF splitters, carbon leather trim. Spousal concession for her once a month drive was NAV, which, in a bit of irony, helped the flatbed truck find me on Friday when the car dumped it's oil.
2013 Lime Rock Park ....delivery 11/12....
