So I've tried many ways to take off these damn side gills but nothing is working, almost scratched my car trying to do so! Any suggestions to what worked the best for you guys?
Step 1: Pinch with fingers
Step 2: Pull towards you
Step 3: :)

Yeah, but if you have a credit card or even better, trim removal tools to poke above and below the gill, that will disengage the tabs, making it easier to pinch pull and smile.
Be sure to find the tape method. No tools are needed! It's posted a bit down in the DIY thread.
Thanks all, will try tonight and hopefully get these bastards off
instead of tugging at it i've found it comes out easiest if you just give it one hard pull with the tape method
^^^^ What they said. Use the tape, works like a charm

I just yanked um out and was lucky no clips broke.

I'm sorry to jack the thread, but what color is your car? It looks great!
It's a tricky bugger
Tape method.

DO NOT do the stupid screwdriver in front of the microfiber cloth thing.
Ok, im confused here, are they side grills or gills?
You can also go through the inner liner. They are a PITA sometimes.

What kind of tape is best?

I used clear packing tape, the wide stuff. Tape one end on the top of the gill, and one to the bottom, and squeeze together in the middle.

Just make sure it is stuck on there well on and give er a rip. Should come out pretty easily.
Yes, very easy with clear packing tape method described above. Pinch and wiggle rather than trying to use brute force.

I also put down some blue painting tape in surrounding area to avoid scratching. When you undo wire/clip be sure to put big piece of tape on end so it doesn't fall back into fender.
Tape method is king! You can do it if a baboon like me did it!
See DIY section. I just squeezed at the small end and wiggle up and down and it comes right out. Tape the wire to the car so it doesn't fall into the fender.

I always thought it was gills, like fish gills.
