I welcome meeting other BMW faithful and geting into the community. Wife and I just bought a place in Cornelius off of Jetton Road, Lake Norman.
I've been active in the NE with my local Chapter (Pocono BMW CCA) and Track Events (NJ BMW CCA and DelVal BMW CCA).
Would like to get together in the spring when we begin to move. We've always had a yearly cookout at our house for the local Chapter. I'll monitor this and the other threads for dates.

The key is to avoid all the touristy roads (which is what tail of the dragon is), because there will be too much traffic and cops everywhere. There are so many backroads and short sections that I really enjoy up by 276N and Blue Ridge Parkway.
