Been thinking about getting an aftermarket exhaust system. Anyone here have a Dinan free flow exhaust? Any exhaust sound better than stock?

I had a Dinan package (S2 engine) with exhaust installed a couple of months ago. I love the increased power and wanted a little more exhaust note. I am not normal (??) and do not like loud. After a couple of months aging, the exhaust might be a little much. I may consider the BMW option later on.

I'll try to save you some grief on here...
I remember that thread, nice one ;)

To the OP, I've got the dinan axle back, if you were only getting axle back I would get something a bit louder...it has no drone but is only a little bit louder than stock.

I combined it with test pipes...with the test pipes the sound is awesome. Still no drone and rips a lot better.
I've got the Dinan axle back and love it. Quiet at low RPMs, roars at 6k+ RPMS.

I second this opinion, although I am currently looking for an x pipe to install as well.
I think it's the best of both worlds when it comes to a daily driven street car. There is definitely a difference in sound compared to stock. The exhaust is mellow under normal driving conditions, no drone when cruising on the highway, and rips at WOT. Everyone has different taste, but for me, I absolutely love it.
Dinan has NO drone. Pretty much all others drone at one PRM or another, mostly around 2,500 rpm. I've had my Dinan on the car for all of two days and I like it a lot. Had the Active Autowerke on the car before - sounds incredible but the 2,500 rpm drone finally wore me out, got worse after the supercharger went on the car.

Dinan is marginally louder than stock while cruising, sounds really good when you open it up.

dinan
I had the Dinan ans currently own the Akra Evo setup. If you only care about noise the Dinan and their xpipe is the best sounding one out there. All other things, akra is better.
