Rear Brake pads

Just wondering what kinda of brakes pads people use on their M's yesterday I had to replace the rear brakes because the screeching was AWFUL! I bought and used ceramic pads from a brand called Textar which were $119.99 + Tax CA

Any preferred pad to use? or anyone have any experience with these Textar ceramic pads?

I just replaced my OEM pads with Textar 2 months ago no issue.

my OEM pads are starting to squeak as well. I thought there was some type of grease/anti-seize lube that goes on the back side of the pads that'll help with the sound? Also there's an anti-rattle spring as well that you can check:

I've thrown plenty of paste back there before and the squeal eventually comes back. Replaced all 4 corners with Ferodo DS2500 now.

Mine squealed every once in a while which I thought it was normal but yesterday I took my car out and the squealing turned into metal to metal screeching it was awful. After observing the old pads they were Semi metallic and still had a little life left on the pads but they looked very very old so guess it was just time to new pads.

Correct. I figured if it's going to make noise, might as well be an upgrade

Having said that, they rarely squeal. But when they do, it's sounds like garbage truck. It's all good though, my car isn't a DD so I don't mind.

DS2500s are notorious for the noise they make based on what I recall on my last car.


Separately, on my recycling collections route, I usually throw my collected bottles and cans into my back seat and trunk, so the brake squeal noise level commensurate with the purpose of what I use my M3 for (garbage collection)

My cool carbons have been really nice so far. You lose some of the initial bite the oem pads are known for, but gain quite a bit of modulability. Nice and quiet, low dust and I haven't been able to fade them off the track.

AutohausAZ for brake pads. In AZ so no tax. They also sell the small packets of BMW brake paste

They have the Pagid or Textar pads which are OEM/OES
Yes they dust but have good initial cold bite.

If you want dustless pads go with another brand.
