When Did You Replace Your Throttle Actuator(s)?

When did you replace your throttle actuator(s)?

Would like some general insight into when one or both of your actuators went faulty.

Please provide the following details:

1) Model year and production date.
2) Mileage the first throttle actuator went faulty.
2) Mileage the second throttle actuator went faulty.

As for myself, I just got the first check engine light regarding the throttle actuator in bank 2. I've cleared the codes for now and have driven 40 miles without it triggering again. Crossing my fingers that it was just an electrical gremlin. I had filled up with a full tank of gas and had Carly running some parameters, so I'm hoping the car just didn't like that at the time. My car is a 2011 (10/2010) with 40,4xx miles.

If you haven't replaced any of your throttle actuators, I'd like to know the details too!

Haven't replaced mine car has 70k on it as a 09 dct production date late 08. Original rod bearings and actuators.

'11 (Sept '10 prod.) with 51k miles, still on original throttle actuators.

E90 M3 Feb 2008 build, replaced Bank 2 at 76,000 miles. Bank 1 still original.

Why are people who have not replaced actuators posting? OP is wondering about those that HAVE replaced actuators...

Still on original throttle actuators

'08, replaced at ~48k miles (bank 2) and ~59k (bank 1). Just rolled passed 61k.

1. 2010 (12/22/2009 service date)
2. 49,800 miles
3. Original actuators and rod bearings

2011 - 45k

Car has 61k miles and on original actuators, even though I had a new engine installed 6 months ago due to rod bearing failure; the actuators are the originals that were transfered over from the old engine to the new engine...

It's interesting to see that most needing replacement have been 2008 and 2009 models within the 50-70k mile range.

I'm pretty sure we have later years in those mileage ranges, but it does seem to be 08/09 more prone to this.

They utilize the same part numbers, so I wonder why that is? Could be that they improved upon the part over the years and kept the same part number? Different ECU parameters? Who knows...

Maybe read his second post in the thread, he kinda clearly asked for them to SMH

08 E90 M3, haven't replaced yet, but have been throwing codes since January this year from time to time. Car just rolled pass 105k km (65k miles). It is going into limp mode particularly frequent this pass month, will have to replace them for sure. Car just hibernated for the winter, will replace them next year.

Original Rod Bearings as well, but i assume i will have to replace them soon sometime next year too. Got one UOA with M1 0W40 for around 6k km (3.7k miles) and it turned up with 8ppm Lead, 1 ppm copper. Just mailed in second UOA this time ran M1 0W40 for almost 10k km. Fingers crossed the lead indiciator is lower.

09/2011, 90k, original actuators, WPC rod bearings

1. 2008 M3
2. 64000 miles
3. Second actuator replaced when first one was replaced

I ended up having 1 actuator replaced under California emissions warranty. I paid to have the 2nd actuator replaced as well while they were under there.

July 2010 prod, e90, first issue last May, several codes thrown over 6 months before both replaced, 67Ks, one was toast, the other visibly worn.....after market warrantee paid for itself:thumbsup:
