1) Model year and production date. - 2009 M3 DCT
2) Mileage the first throttle actuator went faulty. - 56K Miles
2) Mileage the second throttle actuator went faulty. - Still good

The Assurant warranty covered the actuator and labor so its already paid for itself. They also covered my strut mounts at the same time when only having the warranty for 1 month at the time.
Both of mine started acting up around 60k miles with CEL, no limp mode. I ignored it and it usually goes away after day or two driving. occasionally pops back up every month or so, recently it is doing so more often and engine going into limp mode quite frequently, so will be swapping out when i get it back on the road in spring.

- 08 E90 M3 6MT
- throwing codes around 60k miles, replacing them soon @ 66k miles.
Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but I noticed the differences of ms response time between codes DBOD - P152C and P152D, P152E, and P152F.

Condition for fault memory entry:

P152C: 300ms
P152D: 100ms
P152E: 350ms
P152F: 250ms

I wonder if this is any indication as to if the TA can be repaired with new gears vs a full replacement? Has anyone successfully eliminated the code by replacing gears with an error other than P152D?
Does this look like throttle body actuators and/or ICV (or maybe something else even)? I have a set of repair gears coming in, but was able to clear all codes and get the car started just fine. Was wondering if I should also get an ICV on order to replace everything at the same time.

I replaced the gears in mine on my 2008 at 55,900. No fault lights, no signs of damage or issues. I used the Odometer Gears kit for $225. I did it while changing spark plugs.

Did you replace the gears preventatively or was your car throwing a code for the throttle actuators?
2013 Production on 8/2012. Failure occurred at around 6k miles and I haven't had any issues since.
70k miles warranty covered it

I also have assurant. 12k in repairs so far.... all free

'11 (Sept '10 prod.) with 51k miles, still on original throttle actuators.
OK, at almost 54k today and got this at start-up this morning. :thumbdown Will bring it to the shop tomorrow... Thinking throttle actuator based on what I've seen in other threads. About to see my extended warranty start to pay off! :D

Edit: I did have a wheel speed sensor fail years ago and the error messages were similar. Will find out tomorrow...

Yeah, I recently noticed that my mpg readout is saying 99.9mpg, and the idle at startup fluctuates a bit. I'm guessing the throttle sensor or actuators are making their exit soon. Unfortunately I can't do anything about it til I get the warning notifications...

Wow, what have you had done to rack up $12k? I'm up to $10k in repairs in the first year of ownership with my warranty, it's definitely a life saver. Also expecting them to cover my second throttle actuator when that inevitably dies since I've only had one replaced so far...

Did you experience anything recently that hinted a CEL would be coming soon? What did it turn out to be?
Not really. About the only thing I would point to was when idling for extended period there were some very subtle variations in the idle. Nothing like I saw with the fuel tank breather valve but as I waited to pick up the kids from school I would watch the needle and see it. You could almost feel it as well but then I thought maybe I was being paranoid after my earlier idle issues!
OK, forgot I had purchased a code reader years ago. Have never needed it so it was in my desk... Anyway, I pulled some codes, screen shot below. It shows P0302, misfire cal 2.

I then searched here and found this for the code:

Could this be the throttle actuator? A little concerned that the link above also talks about checking for a bad spark plug, run a compression test or check to see if coolant/oil getting into the cylinder. Thoughts?

Another question. I also see the code P157F is related to the throttle actuator so leaning heavily towards that issue. Can I clear the code and drive the car to the shop or should I just have it towed? My extended warranty also provides towing...

If it were me I would leave the code in there for the tech to read himself and drive it to the dealership. The last time I went to the dealer to complain about my TAs they pointed out I didn't have any TA codes stored. And for what it's worth, I read in another forum that a guy from Belgium reported he had a code and a message that read: "P157F drosselklappenfreigabeleitung schaltkreis(bank2) leitungsunterbrechung". Someone who spoke German on that forum said the message translated to: "P157F throttle value release signal circuit (bank 2) signal interruption"
I think you're right. Going to the shop tomorrow so I'll leave the code. Sounds like my extended warranty is about to pay off!
Model: 2008 E93 M3 6M
Production date May 2008
Mileage: Roughly 57K when the first throttle actuator (Bank 1) went faulty.

Did P157F end up being a bad throttle actuator?

Yes. Car is still at the shop waiting for an adjuster from the extended warranty company to come approve the repair. They are supposed to come out with in 48 hours. I dropped off the car yesterday afternoon so won't get it back until next week.

Was also having some issue with comfort access so they are looking into that as well. Car would no longer recognize the key when in the car and would not unlock when I grabbed the handle. Key has been replaced but that did not fix the issue. Been living with it for a while so finally getting that dealt with while the car is in for the TA issue...
