Bmw Oem Differentail Oil Bottle Change???

OK. I ordered a bottle of the diff fluid #83222282583 from Eeuro parts.com everyone knows the oem bottle that it comes in,, They sent me this clear unsealed bottle with a red top. I call to return and the sale guy says bmw is changing Diff oil to this new bottle. Does anyone know anything about this bottle change, or did Eeuro 'F' me just to keep it,,. Help.. Ill try and post PICs

Try to resize your pictures down to 600 pixels wide and store on HD. Then go to the edit feature on your posting. Then click on the little paper clip icon in the edit window to browse for your downsized jpg. Then follow the download prompts. Good luck!

Sounds like a fraud! My friend just purchased 3 from a local dealership and they come in the grey bottle with green top.

Figures..! Thanks man,, get the word out for me,, Eeruopart is a fuckin joke. watch what you order from them and they wanted me to pay 10 reshipping charge,, man im mad.. Ill just use it in my 328..

Sounds shady. Even if bmw changed the bottle I doubt it would be to clear. Quick search of google images doesn't show any clear bottle versions either.

I have 3 bottles coming in from ECS today, so I can let you guys know what my bottles look like if it matters.

I used the Royal Purple Diff fluid and have not had any issues but that bottle doesn't sound legit

Oh but it is. The bottle that I just received from ECS is also clear, with a red cap, and doesn't have the self-contained tube for adding the fluid to the diff.

That bottle looks shady as hell, but it's from ECS, so use with confidence.

On a side note: Diff fluid should smell really nasty from my past experience with OE and Motul fluid.

Yeah it definitely looks low grade. You would think that the changes in bottling (including the lack of the previously included tube) would result in cheaper prices. Nope.

great, now we have to use our own dispenser to get that thing into the horizontal fill hole.

the FM additive reduces the effectiveness of the locking mechanism of the diff, allowing for more slippage, making it operate similar to an open diff, defeating the purpose of the original design of the diff. If you can bare the noise, then I would use the original fluid.

THATS THE BOTTLE..!!!!!!!! I got from them.(Eerouparts) so they maybe rite.. I still don't like how they don't have to fill tube inside and its not a sealed bottle.. thanks guys and keep it going so everybody will know.. BUT -- how do we know that the rite stuff is in there... oh well hope we all are not getting scammed!

Just for info.. that transfer pump in that pic is junk.. I had one it make for a mess job.. im trying something else next time...

I got the castrol diff fluid this past year, without any friction modifiers. Car works normally, and I can't hear any clicking.

To be clear, the standard Castrol SAF-XJ/Syntrax Limited Slip already contains friction modifier. The BMW-branded version just contains more of it.

You guys may want to check out this brief thread that I literally *just* created at BITOG asking about running no FM. Your car and your decision, but I plan to run FM.

Yep. dpharm speaks the truth.

If you don't put in the friction modifier you're just wearing your diff out prematurely. Even when I raced, I used friction modifier, though my diffsonline diff would complain during sharper turns in the paddock (sharper than I'd turn on the track). You want "just enough" FM, but not "too much".

Could the packaging change be because it's now a Shell product instead of Castrol? Interested to hear how it works for you guys that have the new stuff.
