Looking for input from fellow enthusiasts

Ill make this as short as possible, trying to make a decision about my current car situation and looking for insight.

I need to get a new car, I had ordered a 2016 M3 for lease, but it got damaged in shipping, today i got a call from the guys i worked with and they said they would get me a 2017 M3 at invoice for lease, i should mention if i lease, it will be my business vehicle for tax purposes. Would possibly purchase an older, cheaper winter truck for the bad winter days. I live in Minnesota so winter is a consideration (would have winter tires for M3 though)

I also am considering getting a E92 M3 sedan, then I would buy a truck of some sort (looking at Denali's) which would be my business vehicle and the M3 would be my weekend/drive to work once a week car.

Another option is to get an S4, great all year, all around car but not the most exciting vehicle to drive. Also could get an 07 RS4, which is a little more appealing.

Love the V8 and looks in the E92, but the deal on the 2017 may be too good to pass (can get one with the competition package for a steal).

Looking for thoughts and suggestions, if anyone has ideas of other avenues i should explore, please do.

Even at invoice, you still gota give it back. I'm at the end of my lease right now and it was no fun not being able to personalize the car in anyway. I say buy a truck since it's for business.

get the E90 + get a luxury truck. Nowadays, those denali's, KRs, Platinums, etc. are extremely spacious & luxurious. I'm sure they'd make fine business vehicles.

I wont deny that the denali truck is very appealing, and something i am leaning towards. Much safer in the winter and then no need to put the strain on a car during those months.

I think if you're just looking for an upgrade and a thrill to drive, without compromising the thought of a nice business vehicle, then I think getting an E9X would satisfy both needs. Alternatively, if you get the F8X, you'll have a car with fully warranty and all the new creature comforts. However, if that's your business vehicle, it might not be very wise for winters (unless you get another wheel/tire setup).

I drove my E92 M3 through the whole Minneapolis winter on Pilot Sport A/S 3s (the car came with them). Only switched to my old Jeep on the days we got more than a dusting of snow. If you went with full winters you would have absolutely no problem except on the days we get 3"+ of snow.

Honestly, having driven both the S4/5 and RS4, they don't compare to the M3. Much less performance, more reliability headaches, and numb-ass handling.

Yea, if i go new M3, definitely will get nokian happelita's or something. On the days with tons of snow, i can work from home if need be or take the ladies SUV.

Can't say i have driven the F8x yet.

Test drive both cars, and then decide based on which one speaks to your soul. As an enthusiast, you know exactly what I mean.

Hmmmm looks like i could trade my current S4 for the denali truck straight up, might do that now and then order the M3 since it will be a few months away anyway.

I have an e92 for the spring thru fall and an 04 Denali for the winter and towing needs. Best of both worlds in my opinion.

definitely true, even though i know an m3 would be more than okay for winters with a good setup, driving a truck/suv is much more comforting.

Wow, this post clears it all up for me, get the denali, OP!

my daily is a $2K 1983 Benz 300sd, all my eggs are in this swap basket. by the time I am done with it would be a well optioned out 2016 M3, but no car payment as I make monthly payments towards the project every month.

lolz. too bad i dont have the skills or time to do something like this.

E90 M3 + Denali, can't go wrong with that. New M3/M4 looks and especially the sound that the car makes never did for me.

2015+ Denali looks so good that some days I feel like trading my E90 for it.

I spoke with a guy recently about his S65 into E46 swap. There can't be more than one in process in Austin, right?

there are some trying, but mine will be completed first. It is at Technica Motorsports in Atlanta, should be wrapped up within the next 1-2 months. It has been over a year and a half since they started.
