Manual clutch replacement..

It's that time where unfortunately the clutch has given up on me.. It's served me long enough so I'm grateful but now I find myself in the predicament of what clutch to choose.

Genuine or aftermarket?
Heavy duty or standard?

And I'm assuming like previous m3 models, its a DMF and so the flywheel can not be machined and needs to be replaced.

I can't say I've had any experience or much knowledge with previous e92 m3 clutch replacements so I'm just trying to compile everyone's understanding so that I can make an informed decision in the next coming days.

It's only been 2 days and I already miss her!

So.... Just in case you were tempted I can confirm you can get them for our RHD cars. I was tempted a couple of months back but my pedal is still pretty firm and non-wobbly. Maybe I'll do one when when I do my clutch in the future...

I got a brand new clutch and dual mass flywheel installed on my e92 m3 2 weeks ago , 108,000km old

BMW wanted 7k parts and labour , told them to shove it . Got oem clutch and flywheel for approx 2k from western clutch services in Penrith and approx 1k labour installed at advan performance

Got receipt if you want to know prices , I also got other little bits in the transmission replaced like pivot pin , etc

SCT911 you're a champ!

Apparently the flywheel of early 2008 6MT M3 built before 09/2008 was slightly smaller and hence so was the clutch. This resulted in a 'not so quiet' transmission and so post 09/08 builds had the flywheel and clutch updated to a slightly larger kit.

I know the larger/newer kit can be fitted on the 'early' m3 and you've got a 07 model. Which flywheel/clutch did you get on yours?

And if you could PM a picture of the receipts I'd be forever grateful and if I do choose those guys I'll be sure to let them know who sent me!


PS I haven't forgotten about giving you a call sometime to check out that m3world exhaust. Was meant to give you a call last Sunday and then this happened

Dual mass flywheel can be machine. We get them done all the time. If you are in Melbourne, I can help.

Early '07 clutch was fixed under recall for the larger one.

108k for clutch seems early? Any idea what the norm is? Is am at 97k.

I have "07 but have the replaced clutch. Keen to know your final cost and decision.

Maybe thats why your car is a bit slower......🤔

More likely it's due to the missing side skirt extensions!

Sorry about the delayed reply mate!

Ended up going for a LUK DMF kit and clutch from Western Clutch for about $1900

While I was getting the clutch replaced I also had both my throttle body actuators replaced (that along with rod bearings are e92 m3's weakness I guess). The cost for the TB actuators as well as the labour for both clutch and TBA set me back $6000.

So all up it was a ~$7900 adventure.

Is that the upgraded OEM clutch kit or is that after market? If the latter, why did you choose it over the OEM?

same kit that bmw sell, just without the bmw logo and price,

Did you contact them? It looks like it now does. Not sure if that has changed.

I brought one a few weeks back and had to send it back because it didn't fit
