Throttle Actuator ?

Hello everyone,

So the other day started my car and it went into limp mode and got a bunch of errors. Just trying to figure out if its actually the throttle body actuator or something else. If it is any way to tell which bank it is? Do I need a special OBD reader for that? Any input would be great.

Thanks! How did you find out if it was bank 1 or 2?

well if you take one out and don't get any more codes then it's that one....if you do get more codes then I don't think you can tell. There are better code readers around that can tell you...however, if one TA is out....the other is going to follow soon....

shop scanner,(1or2)

seems that m3 spitting those codes and scanner

tells more than,

Have a shop scan it for you...I had the exact same codes and mine was bank 1

Replace both.

the proof is contained in the hundred of TA posts on this board and the M5 boards...the gears inside the TAs get very similar wear levels over time...sure one will likely die before the other but the other is almost as wore out too. Some of the cost to replace these is the labor. You will save more in labor replacing both at the same time then you will save in waiting to replace the second actuator. There is one exception, if you do all the labor yourself and time is no object to you and you plan to keep the car for a very long time then yes you can save a little money waiting to do the second one, however that's not most people's situation.
