My car went into limp-mode a few days ago and BMW shop discovered that I've got a bad vacuum line sensor (part num 34302283605). The top of the sensor has a light coating of brake fluid and I've got the 10-20 second buzzing sound coming from OBD port area after hard presses on the brake pedal. This seems like a relatively straightforward job so I'm looking to save myself ~$1k and DIY it.
Has anyone successfully replaced just the faulty sensor or is everyone doing a full hose replacement? Based on this pic, it seems like the sensor is just held onto the hose by a couple of torx screws: https://3a663eb0fef48c6d2d60-a88f8ebfcdb877ad223e888bfcb7f7ec.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/708464_x800.jpg This is making me think that as long as I can get access to the old sensor's torx screws, I should be able to fix this without taking off the master cylinder and reservoir. Has anyone out there attempted this?
