CF Roof Repair

Any thoughts on the best way to repair my CF roof? Looks like the clear coat is failing a bit on the driver side, should this be fixed with epoxy or best to have the roof lightly sanded and sprayed with clear coat again?

Saw the video below and afraid my body shop might end up damaging the carbon somehow.

Would appreciate any input.

Holy cow, I've never seen it that bad before. I would try to add clear coat in with a small touch up brush. Let it dry and sand it evenly and then buff it to remove the sand marks. If that doesn't work, a whole respray would be needed.

I would maybe cautiously sand the edges with 1500-2000 grit sandpaper, avoiding sanding the actual cf weave, then brush on some clear from your oem 2 piece bmw touch up paint kit, then more fine grit sanding, followed by a compounding with an orange pad, polishing with a white pad, and finished with wax on a hand applicator.

I wouldn't recommend sanding it first. Smarter to put the clearcoat first and you risk sanding the weave down as well that can ruin the finish.

I agree with this route, that way you have a bit of protection when attempting to sand. It might be worth checking into how much it would be to re clear the entire top to make sure you don't start getting these patches all over the place.
