I have designed improved clips for eBay shifter boot holder. It broke on me in a week after I had glued my new F10 shifter on. So I had 2 options, removing shifter boot from the plastic and buying a new one, or designing new clips which will hold up forever.

That eBay one has very fragile clips, so I replaced all of them with my design clip and voila... It snapped in the place like a champ. These clips are printed with PETG, so very flexible and won't break in high temps or even if you bend it 180 degrees.

I'm out of the market and do not print any new frames or clips, but I decided to make the project open and free for everyone.

Here's the link: https://www.printables.com/model/345239-bmw-e92-m3-manual-shifter-frame-and-clips

Donations would be appreciated. Thank you everyone!
Nice work!

Thanks man! Hopefully, this will help someone in need.
Amazing. Does this work with DCT shifter? I assume yes? If so I’ll take a set.

I don't think so :/ I designed it to fit manual trans boot holder. Have no idea how dct trans lever clips into the place.
Can I buy just 1 to try? Will let you know if it’ll work on a dct.
Yeah, PM me.

Shipping is $4 though.

Very interested in this. Do you break off the original tabs and then superweld glue these onto the same spots?

Yeah, one was already broken off, so I broke off other 3 and filed the spot down, then used super weld to glue it on the same spot.

Gotcha. Can you elaborate on filing the spot down? Did you use some sandpaper to rough up the area behind the old tab, sandpaper for better adhesion, etc?

No, I used a file to shave that bulge down. You can see in the picture. When you break the tab off, that bulge will stay there, so you need to flatten it first.

So I bought some of these clips from buglinjo. They were ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! Not only were they shipped quickly, but the fit was perfect. Well, made and the design is MUCH better than the OEM clips.

I had installed the new M5 knob and the leather is much thicker. Nicer than the original M3's, I really liked the new leather but the original clips would not take. I trimmed to the point that there was barely enough on the plastic frame but the original clips still would not engage.

After the clips arrived, I used a small hacksaw blade (for metal) to slowly cut off the original clips and then the inside edge (bump) that was part of the clip - made it all smooth. I used J&B epoxy and some of the metal binder clips to hold the new clips in place while the epoxy cured.

After wrestling with the shift boot with the original clips I was ready for a fight trying to get the revised boot to snap in. Attached the wire and pressed the plastic ring into place. It attached immediately and perfectly. The fit is great. Done-finally.

A long post for some plastic clips but they made all the difference. If you're thinking of the knob/ boot mod for the M3, use these clips. I would have saved myself significant trouble if I had installed these clips from the start. Nice work buglinjo!

Thank you for your post!

I'm glad I helped other people like me struggling to keep boot holder in place.
