Question on brake pad replacement

Recently picked up my M3 and the brake dust is driving me crazy. I have been running Akebono dustless pads on my F10 535 for 6+ years now and I would like to get a set for my M3. The rear pads and rotors were replaced on my M3 10K miles ago and the fronts 6K mile ago. Can I replace just the pads at this point? Or would it be recommended that I replace both the pads and rotors? Normally I would just wait until my pads need replacement, but my M3 is not my daily driver and it would be years until my pads need replacement. Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Replace pads anytime you want.

10k on rotors is not a problem.

6l/10k miles on rotors is nothing. Just swap the pads.

+1 on just changing out the pads

As said, you will be fine, just be careful not to damage a wear sensor removing it from the old pads. They can be brittle and crack easily after awhile.

Buy dark wheels and brake dust won't be an issue... 😂

Don't let BMW service advisors lie to you. Rotors don't have to be replaced with pads.

I love the Akebonos! Just measure your rotors while you're in there, but you should have no issues. I wish they would hurry up and make these for my X3 M40i– I am putting them on the day they do!

I still have the og rotors and pads on my 2010 (56k miles)....but both front and rear pads will need replacing in the very near future.

Going w the Akeb's myself for dust control purposes.
Both front and rear rotors have that lip on the edge so i know they have to be replaced anyway.

Should i stick w Oem rotors....or will others suffice (fcp for example)?

VNE rotors on FCP's website are the exact same as Genuine BMW rotors without the BMW logo

^^^ Spot on. The BMW logo is not worth the price on the rotors (or injectors!!!).
