Wheel sealant

Anyone try Max Coat Wheel Guard, Wheel Max or Magic Guard wheel sealants?

These three have the best reviews on Amazon... Trying to figure out which one to get.

Hmm good call. Somehow I didn't think ceramic coating would work well on aluminum, but then you just made me realize that BMW aluminum wheels are clear coated anyways.

Does ceramic fend off brake dust better than waxes?

Also, given that ceramic is a hard shell, is it possible that it would crack and break down faster from all the bumps, vibrations and heat?

no. ceramic coating is very durable and people commonly coat their painted brake calipers as well. wax tech has improved over the years, but it still has a much lower temperature range than sealants.

I coated my with Kamikaze Stance Rim Coat 2.0. It definitely make finish feel smoother and more shinny/depth. I have only wash the wheels once since then so can vouch for longevity. Yes, the brake dust still sticking to the wheels.However, so much easier to clean for sure.

I've been ceramic coating wheels, exhaust tips and suspension components for years, including polished, raw and anodised finishes.

It keeps them clean for longer, and then makes them a breeze to clean when you come to it. Never a single issue or negative thing to say about it, no cracking or anything that you asked about.

I've personally always used "Carbon Collective - Platinum Wheels" but other big brands offer the same sort of thing such as Gyeon Rim, Gtechniq C5 etc.

Highly recommended, lasts many months, and in my experience well over a year.

If you have time to do proper prep a good ceramic coat will last longer. If you can't do that, then a wheel sealant or a spray sealant will work well too, just won't have the durability of a ceramic coating.

ADAMS ceramic wheel coating and forgetaboutit... $80 on Amazon. I got three sets out of one kit. I would buy again.

Absolutely agree! The most important thing is the prep as most of the more expensive coatings are pretty much the same.

I use TW ceramic spray on the rims (as well as body). Works great but Im sure proper ceramic coating is even better.

That being said, don't expect it to fend off brake dust or keep your wheels cleaner for longer durations. It will make cleaning them super fast though and the brake dust will essentially wipe off like magic.

Ceramic coating the wheels is definitely the way to go. If I only coated one thing on the car it would be the wheels as it makes cleanup so much easier. Any kind of regular routing to wax wheels is just annoying and takes so long due to how intricate wheels tend to be vs big body panels.

And if it's not a daily driver it should easily last for years.

Some good info in here to help fight the battle against brake dust.

Coated my brand new track wheels and they are super easy to clean after track days. A quick blast of the pressure washer gets most of it off.

Reviving an old thread, but there is a lot of good advice here, so it could be useful for other members too. That being said, I plan to ceramic coat a brand-new set of silver OEM 359 wheels, and would appreciate your input on the following:

1. Any reason not to ceramic coat them before having the tires mounted?

2. What type of prep work should I do before the ceramic coating? Again, they will be brand-new, out of the box.

3. Thinking of using Adams Graphene Ceramic Coating 10H. Any reason no to?

I used CQuartz UK on my M359s after having them refinished by a local powder coating shop. I will say that washing them so far has been a breeze. If you wash them on a weekly basis, you can get most brake dust off with just a wash down. 2-3 weeks of not washing them...No need for harsh chemicals anymore, I just use my foam canon and towel.

1. I'd wait till after tires are balanced. My thought process is if they need to add weight the coating will keep it from sticking lol. Not sure if that's a thing tho

2. If they're new, just clean and dry. If they were older it would benefit to polish out as much scratches as possible.

3. I've never heard a bad thing about Adam's products.
