Just curious how you made that- i would be worried about structural integrity with all those holes

I would like to know what he is using as well but I don't think "structural integrity" is in play here. It's just a hinge for the boot. 99 percent of the time it's closed and when it's up the shock is holding it up

Wow this may be your biggest loss for a single item yet. Not being sarcastic. It's actually pretty big for just trunk hinges.

I also finished the hood hinges today. Much easier than the trunk hinges because all of the surfaces are flat.

Santa came late this year

Installed intake and the lid today. I'd say a minor upgrade after the plenum, but still an upgrade in terms of sound. Slightly more "twang" to it. I'm not sure it's really worth it after the plenum, maybe whichever one is most effective at creating the more dynamic sound, but both is a lot of dough. I'll try with the stock lid eventually for science. Didn't bother with the CF scoop that goes in the lower bumper air duct, I'll do it this weekend if it doesn't look goofy. How much good can it do?

Also finally got my missing cable for the Carsara Apple CarPlay and android unit. So now everything works including sound from aux input going directly from Carsara to the back of the head unit via the quad lock (had to be coded). I think it sounds better than the Tune 2 Air usb thing I was using before for Bluetooth music. Siri works. Phone calls work. During this whole process I stripped the T Bolt on the negative battery terminal, got the last replacement at the oreilly's auto parts that I could walk to.

Installed this battery today! Its crazy how light this is. I really need the Jumpstart option as I am always leaving my water tank pump on. I have a yellow top for sale...lol...it less than a year old. Took the weight of the 3 batteries I have owned

Rattling like it's banging against something?

Didn't notice anything yesterday like a rattle. Did notice that it made a clunk noise on aggressive down shift rev match. Took a look and the elbow shifted in the rubber connecting pieces. Not good, but it appeared to have stayed sealed. Took the lid off today to find the dust shield on the cone hanging kind of loose. I man handled the shield during install trying to twist the cone so I probably ruined the adhesive they used on it. Sound was probably the cone bashing against the lower airbox when the elbow moved. Also I think the reason mine wanted to shift at the elbow joint was the cone was not tilted correctly causing a geometry issue making the elbow want to not sit correctly at the rubber connecting piece at the plenum. Maybe the clamps just were not tight enough but they caution not to over tighten and crack the carbon.

Ugh...... so I have 3M sticky tape so I took out everything, cleaned the top of the cone, cleaned the dust shield, used adhesive promoter and new 3M tape, angled the cone hopefully correctly, dust shield sits correctly and firm on the airbox, elbow fits good without forcing it this time, screwed everything back together. Have not driven since reinstall though.

Polished some scratches out of the IDrive screen and replaced the steering wheel trim.

Pretty sure I also discovered my battery is original (from 2010) and it's given up the ghost. Leaving it on the tender overnight but leaving the car out in the cold with the power draining from getting in and out a bunch gave me a bunch of electrical gremlins including a tamper dot.

Tomorrow off to autozone for a new battery. If it lasted 10+ years god bless it.

Got my BE Bearings and ARP bolts installed at 97k miles, as well as new spark plugs and motor mounts.

Interior refresh compliments of Straight Six Auto Parts, Oceanside CA shipped to Central Texas. Price was good and pieces arrived undamaged and as described.
