the spindle is conical... the bearings won't bolt up to the spindle properly. The washer fills in the conical seat of the spindle so the bearings mounts flush. I have 25 sets of washers coming in in a few weeks.
That's right. You can see the conical face clearly in the pic below. The tapered washer is needed to allow the bearing to mate up to the spindle properly.

I just bought a bunch of wishbones for about $10-15 per piece. Find local part outs and watch ebay/make offers. People part out 335i or 328i on facebook marketplace all the time and just throw the stock arms away because they are worthless. should be able to source 8 wishbones for ~$100 cash to someone.

335i wishbones are stamped steel with rubber bushes on both ends. Not sure how they would be useful here.

no the wishbone has a spherical at one end. the guide rod is rubber both ends.

It is exactly what i have done with x4 old arms that i have in stock ;)

good oem quality stuff.
Does the sleeve for the camber arm slide pretty tight into the subframe? I considered this route with mine but opted for the powerflex black due to not wanting to deal with welding. The powerflex sleeve is held in place with loctite 640. Wonder if the bw can be held in place with the same.

Got all the new arms with sphericals installed with no issues. The blue circlips are Meyle bearings. Replaced the camber arm outboard bearings with new Lemforders as there was play at 137k kms. Camber arm inboards are BW Camber Arm Bearing Kit.

'While I was there' I also did rear wheel bearings, ECS trailing arms, Powerflex Street (Yellow) rear shock mounts, and also recond the half shafts since some of the CV boots were torn. So basically a whole rear end refresh.

Then we discovered that the power steering rack was leaking so I had to get that done, too. Car's still up in the air waiting for the rack. Can't wait to drive it!

The BW camber arm bearing sleeve slides easily by hand into the subframe, there's almost no resistance. I know someone here just used Loctite retaining compound to secure it without welding, but it was loose enough that I didn't trust Loctite alone to do the job so I had it tack welded in the end.

I used the Loctite retaining compound for mine BW kit and still holding tight after about 4 track days and about 7,000miles

This post also used the loctite to retain the sleeve.

Once all bushings are eliminated with this method, would there still be an advantage to go with full arm kits like SPL?

The SPL arms offer a bit more adjustment, but I'll admit if I would have seen this offering before I did my full SPL build, I would have done these!
