I must be lucky with BMW of San Francisco. I often purchase parts from them because they beat almost any online retailer in price. And the other day when I went to pick up a new transmission oil pan and filter, I was able to pull aside the shop manager to answer a few questions I had about the job since I was having some difficulties. Later in the conversation I brought up that I was having my rod bearings done down in LA next week. He actually offered to save me the drive down and to do the bearings at the dealership for 2 grand! I honestly really wanted to take him up on the offer but I had already made a deposit. One of the chillest BMW employees I've ever met.

That being said, the dealer that's closer to me, is full of a**holes. I think BMW of SF is an exception.
There are still good dealerships out there, depends on the owner. I went to my local (College Station, Texas) and ordered shadowline trim because the shipping is over two hundred online. Placed my order, about $10 more that online and he said, "great, it will be here tomorrow by 8am". Quotes for for similar services such as VCG, etc. were comparable to Indy's, just don't have the relationship or faith you have in your mechanic so still hesitant to do any major work there.
Installed spacers, 15 and 12 looked like something was off and yep i installed 15 on rear and 12 on front. So then had to redo. Looks great and no rubbing noticed.

I have heard so many horror stories about dealers over the years I have concluded that I am also very lucky. My local dealer has always been great. Since I have been doing business with them for nearly 3 decades most know me by sight if not by name, even the owner. In fact 2 of my better buds down there have moved up the ladder and are now the Service Manager and the Parts Manager. I do go and get parts from them every now and then as they try and match online prices.

That having been said, I know they have a fair amount of tunrover with their lower level techs and so I just prefer to do all my own work where possible. And I would never have them do RB's since they would just put in BMW factory bearings once again and we would be right back were we started, lol!

Yup, 2 spots. First was the HKS BOV, it uses a C clamp style ring that was not seated and 2nd leak was coming from the plenum, I had to stand on it to get it to properly seat. She is all sealed up and will get to 9 pounds when dropping the right foot. Making another appointment when I get back from travel.

Oh nice! I'm glad you were able to troubleshoot it immediately.

I've been suspecting a boost leak for a little while now but can't figure out if it's just reading incorrectly.

Replaced a bunch of parts and the last thing to do is dyno the car. It pulls hard so I'm hoping the gauge is wrong.

I filled up last week, it was 2.739 at Sams here in town. However, due to the pipeline BS I am sure it is gonna go straight up from there. No telling what it will be next fill...
