I would not want to tell to this Forum what I eard. I was at Motorsport factory for a visit. There will be no CSL model for the M3 e92. It is not in their plans at the moment. True or false? I am sure it is true, since the person who told me is very very inside the production process.
Anyway it is a pitty. And the reason is: the limits about weight saving and increasing of performance of the standard M3, are too low and don't allow too many improvments according to an acceptable cost of this operation.
I beleive that man. I only want to report what I eard.:mad0259:

That's not such bad news. That just means we already have a bad ass "M"ofo in our hands.

What did you hear? :D ;)

Seriously, I heard the same. No CSL for E9x M3.

Best regards, south
You wonder if they're just going to pour money into R&D for lightening the next series of M cars since we may have reached the end of the HP wars.
Even if true, its ok by me since it probably would not have come to the US and probably would have been ~$100k USD even if it did. Just not really an attainable or practical car for me.

Hi my friend:D

I think is not a so bad new...since in this way I will not loose my money, selling my beauty to buy the new CSL...:-)

Anyway, I feel also like an idiot and I have to find the correct words to tell that: my servotronic is fine. Do you remember my thread? We checked it in Munich....Nothing is going wrong with it. I am only, like you suggested in the past, more used to it and I don't feel anymore his job...And this is why I have to admit that I feel or probably I am, an IDIOT....:drink:
You guys think that they'll have the equivalent of the "competition package" like they did with the E46 M at least?
Maybe they're putting their efforts in the Tii?

I asked if there will be (soon) available the performance package. The answer was that they are still debating about the opportunity to create it or not. So at the moment I think that there will not be any news in short time.
What I felt was that they are sure that they made the best for the new M3. This doesn't mean that what they told me is true. They could have told simply the opposite of what they will do. Honestly I don't think, but who knows?

Think it's good to know for you that everything's fine with the Servotronic. Did you compare with a different M3 in Munich?

Such a package still seems possible. Just don't know when it would be due.

If it's like the E46, it will be a while. They didn't come out with that until the near the end of the E46 M3s life.
Very good news....

The current M3 is the best M3 the can build at the time (without a 120K price tag).

what would such a package include?

A bit of this and a bit of that. :D

Seriously, I don't know. I'd imagine that as a "CSL light." Brake upgrade, different setup for suspension etc. I'm only guessing, though.

Nobody really knows yet. For the E46 it included:

Alcantara covered steering wheel
CSL brakes
CSL wheels
Different engine tune (?IIRC)

Other things I'm not sure about without looking it up:

CSL style trunk lid with integrated spoiler.

And there are probably other things I've missed.
I am not surprised. As stated in previous CSL threads, the new M3 is close to its limit in weight savings without getting too crazy with the interior. The car already has CF and plastic throughout, as well as forged lightweight suspension components. I would imagine the issue is in the cost for BMW. I doubt they can justify the cost of developement....

You `ll know; when the next generation M3 is about to show its face.......................:D
I thought this was already stated in an interview with a BMW executive a while back? I remember him saying that there was no plan for the CSL version at the moment.

You mean just like what Audi do with their RS models.
