They are listening - very well done to them - the switch back from the stock system was frustrating me a bit, for what is otherwise a great system. Will install the firmware and software updates today and report back.

Hello,
I'm still waiting my box, it's already pre-ordered... I've few questions :)

How can you change between the Carplay and iDrive?
Is it possible to listen different audio source (eg: FM radio) and using the Carplay interface?
Is it possible to use the OEM BT telephone like in the Andream MMI box?
If you have a hotkey (eg: car TPMS information) and you push the hotkey, does the carplay goes back to the idrive?
Do you see the actual music (OEM BT Audio) or a music list (OEM USB music) on the dashboard/HUD when you use the streering wheel buttons?

- To change back: just press menu and you are back to the iDrive interface

- No, I don't think it's possible to listen to another input source while having Carplay / AA interface up on the screen due to how it works as an input itself

- Yes, whenever I say "Hey google call person XXX" it searches for the name and then hands over to the OEM call system - after the call it goes back to the Carplay / AA interface, very clever. But... I don't know how this would work without the stock bluetooth system.

- I'm using Android Auto and my default music player is Youtube music - I can load entire playlists, search for individual songs and even like / unlike songs from the centre knob if I want to - it even brings up album cover art work etc.

The picture is the default view that I have (Waze and Youtube music) - this is all over wireless Android as well! It connects with one press while my phone is still in my pocket.

Anyone have a picture of it with ccc resolution?
Curious if anyone has successfully installed the Mr12Volt box WITHOUT having to code?

No one other than the 3 of us mentioned in this thread has posted about getting it working. All 3 couldn't get it working until the CIC was coded to enable the CD changer.

Perhaps we'll hear more install experiences when the pre-orders are filled and maybe the new firmware versions will fix it.

Hopefully anyone else who has experience and sees this thread will chime in.

Same experience here. I installed everything and even the connected the Carplay to my phone but the screen/audio would not switch over to Carplay until I coded for the CD changer.

They have an install video on YouTube with the CCC.
Honestly doesn't look too bad to me. I plan on giving it a shot. Thanks to all you guys posting this, offering the mic splitter, camera recommendations, etc. I look forward to giving it a shot.

Speaking of camera, does anyone have a camera recommendation that has a mini connector to help with feeding it through the wiring loom?

Awesome, how do you like it so far?

So far it’s working really well. I am still waiting for my rear cam so the install is not yet completed. As others have commented, it is extremely fast and responsive. The sound is better than my Carsara unit via quadlock aux input but I have not tested extensively with higher quality sources. Somehow the firmware I have (bmwCIC_20210811) does not switch back from idrive to Carplay automatically until I press the power button. I prefer this anyways.
This is interesting. Hopefully it works well, would definitely replace my Avin unit on my 335i with this

I would also like to know if anyone who's installed the Mr12Volt kit can confirm this for us.
Probably been covered but I successfully installed a Carsara unit earlier this year with reverse camera. Its been great, coded out the Aux so it goes through the quadlock and sounds good.

These new Mr12Volt units are much more up my ally. Sound quality. I'm going to be doing a full audio install and to have it all optical would be amazing. Helix SDMI25 to handle MOST feed at the rear of the car which will connect to a Mosconi processor.

So, apart from this major advantage and having CIC combox already retrofitted.. Are there any disadvantages?

Did you read the pros and cons in the first post? or any of the comments in the thread?

Yes and the main one seems to be the Mic?

Appreciate your post seeing if anyone else made the switch from Carsara that had any concerns outside of what you had put.

The other two flags that stick out to me are the lack of Siri support through the steering wheel and the potential issue with it pulling out of the CIC interface more frequently than wanted. But sounds like there are still active firmware releases happening so both of those are issues that could be fixed through software.
No problem. I have jumped in on the pre-order :)

2009550iMSport's user avatar2009550iMSport Sent you email for the Mic splitter just now also.
I have the CCC unit on the way, to arrive Monday, shipped from NJ. Apparently they had (or have?) stock left of those. I decided if I lived with the low resolution for 10 years, then I could handle it, since the real goal is less about screen and more about function to make the car 'last' longer for me. I will be waiting at least on the mic splitter (thanks again) before install and will likely do the backup camera later, unless it comes quicker.

I'll post any feedback and some pictures on how well it works with the CCC.

Hopefully the assistant prompt gets added with a firmware update at some point since the mic issue is solved with a splitter and they already fixed the timeout exit from idrive.

👍🏻
Update for OEM mic splitter buyers:

Hey guys! Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about you! I’m still waiting on the splitters to come in the mail. They’re finally in the country but were held up at customs for some reason. Thank you AliExpress “Premium” Shipping :mad0259:

They’ve cleared customs as of yesterday and are en route to my house. I imagine they’ll be here on Monday, if not today. I will send an email out to everyone individually whenever I get them mailed out.

Regards,

Rob

Have you seen the CCC version? I would’ve just waited through the backorder and done a CIC upgrade, but to each his own.
