Post your cars actual weight

I weighed my car today on a scale good to +/- 20 lb. It was free here at the local dump. Post up your weight if you have it.

Options (that matter):
-19" wheels
-M-DCT
-EDC
-Nav (Tech. Package)

Conditions:
-Full tank, ~17 gal = 107 lb
-Driver included: 160 lb

-Result: 3780 lb
-Weight with full tank of fuel without driver: 3673
-Calculated weight with no driver and no fuel: 3513
-Reported curb weight from BMW: 3704
-Calculated weight by EU standard: 3775

I believe US curb weight includes a full tank of fuel. Even given the accuracy of the scale (a worst case under reporting) the car still comes in lighter than the BMW spec.

She could be lighter but she could have been way heavier without careful weight management during design.

nice - also I beleive they really worked to keep the wieght low and towards the center of the car- the e92 feels and handles like it weighs less than the e46. my biggest impression so far is how flat the car corners compared to my e46. I'll have to seek out a dump.

3780 with lots of options, full tank and driver.... That's pretty impressive swamp!

Okay maybe my math is different....but 3780 - a 160lb driver is 3620lbs....not 3673??

I'm assuming you have as coupe with the CF roof?

Guess I need to lose few pounds...

Driver weight will make up for quite a bit of it though.

I will have to take it to my alignment guy to find out, unless swamp can steer me toward the DUMP (no jokes about dumping the Benz in with the garbage, OK?!)

3513 No fuel/no driver is not too bad. In the military flying community that's called the basic weight.

I guess the plastic front fenders and aluminum hood works well to save weight.

I'd like to see some actual weights from some 335s as a comparison.

There's a few posts on E90post about this and they are around 3300lbs.

Its no surprise, then, that the M3 comes at 3500lbs. Still good though.

I went to (free) scales at the San Diego dump, here., not up in OC. This one is pretty centrally located. No idea where the closest one in OC is.

Great idea for a thread. I suggest you repost posted numbers in your OP. I am staring at an issue of car and driver, which has the curb weight of a 6MT with tech package and 18" wheels at 3571 lbs (don't know about fuel). I want to weigh mine soon, but need to find a scale around here.

swamp, can you tell me how this works? Do you just drive to the entrance and ask to get on the scale? I haven't been to the dump since I was a kid in my Dad's pickup truck....

After my break-in period, I'm going to search for a C63 AMG to race. With the LC, I think I might have the edge. Especially when C63 AMG is weighing over 4000 lbs..

I think he meant that 3673 was with driver but no fuel (3780 - 107). I think US curb weight is with full fluids. So, the ~3620 is close to some of the listed 6MT magazine curb weights plus the extra 44 lbs for DCT.

Good info, have a better idea of my cars actual weight. Not as bad as I thought...

I don't know man, should be a hell of a lot of fun finding out though! Do share if you end up having an encounter. The C63 may weigh about 300-400 pounds more than the M3, but it is also packing 451-hp and 443-lb-ft of torque. From both a stop and from a roll, I think the C63 is going to pull. I have driven both the M3 and the C63, and the C63 does feel noticeably faster in a straight line. I know of a guy over at MBworld who did some friendly runs with a new M3 and he reported that the C63 pulled comfortably on the 6MT. Like you said, may be closer with the DCT and launch control.

You should visit the MB AMG forums. They are really into drag racing, HP and WHO'S GOT THE BIGGEST err um, THE FASTEST 1/4 mile time. I'm positive you'd find someone who'd drag you down the strip... legally of course. They are into that stuff... that's why they buy the car with THE MOST HP.

even at my ripe young age, my favorable genetics allow me to consume Angus burgers and still stay slim. What the MB may lack against the M3, I will make up for in driving skills and driver weight - HA!

Exactly. Well almost. You wait in line among all the pickups, trash trucks and trailers hauling junk, drive right up to the scale house when it is your turn and then tell them:

1. (Digital readout likely visible from your car)
a. "Ooops sorry wrong turn, I'll flip a Ue."
b. "Do you dig my fancy trash hauler? I don't want to enter nor pay so I'll just flip a Ue right up there."
2. (Digital readout not visible - very unlikley)
a. It's a man - flash your "blues" and say "I know what my new car weighs but I'm really trying to figure out if this diet I'm on is working. Can you tell me how much we both weigh?"
b. It's a woman - beg politely for your "number".

I certainly would have mentioned a dump in or near OC but I have no idea (despite living there for quite a number of years). Good luck. As an honorary long term M3post.com member I encourage you to post your weight in this thread as well.

In the interest of research and my M3 curiosity I have an offer for Swamp2 and Hans Delbruck. I have a REBCO 1 Weigh Electronic Scale system and hoist available. If you interested in coming to Mission Viejo we could check the wheel weights (corner weights) and total weights of both cars.

I am also interested in seeing the underside of a M-DTC transmission.

But then one of you will need to take me for a ride in an M-DTC M3.
