What have you done with or to your M3 today?

Replaced starter (almost stranded me), replaced fuel breather valve (preventative) all in preparation for the ESS G1 kit install today. The starter was a a nitpicky PITA job but it is done and the car runs.

On the plus side, the starter is clean, I did not need a hoist and as my buddy said "you are good at taking the plenum off cause of the TA issues…". Cheeky bugger.

Also to be done today is an oil change, idler pulley replacement and new spark plugs.

Vroom vroom!

Not looking forward to starter problems...

And the G1 kit, soon in place, count on that we get some pics, vids, comments etc!

Did you get the uber expensive OEM starter or refurbished Bosh Starter? No issues with mine yet and I'm over 100k miles...just want to plan ahead. thanks

The finest refurbished Bosch from FCP. The BMW branded one best come with a bottle of 40 year old scotch ffs.

Cleaned the Dinan air filter. It was noticeably dirty after just a couple thousand miles but cleans up nicely.

Replaced the cabin filters and hit the system with BG Frigi Fresh to keep it ... fresh. 3.5 years and 12K, though they weren't noticeably dirty or funky yet.

Added Techron concentrate to a full tank. Oil change coming up.

Changed out my air filter as well.

I had the car ready to change out pads on it, but my wheel lock key broke with barely any torque. Running by BMW today to just have them take the wheel lock studs off since I am ordering motorsport hardware studs to go with my new wheels.

Changed the battery to Duralast Platinum for cold NE winter. The OG battery was displaying signs of passing. Also swapped in a new gas cap.

Removed 90 percent of the shifter slop with Turner Motorsports shifter refresh/rebuild kit using Teflon bushings


Topped it off with a fresh OEM shift knob.

For the first 350KM, I have to drive it under ~6K and no WOT so... I do not know yet. :P

I sure hope it will be an animal - we will see.

After my new starter, it sounded like a "Jet" when it first started....3 months later it sounds normal.

Looks good, I think I nailed it right after I installed it....lol. I was smiling the whole time.
I see they changed up the kit a bit. Is that a plate on the snail? Also where the water line enters the front of the plenum is that a plastic 90?

Just installed a new carbon fiber front lip from PO//M Performance. Got done as the sun went down for the day. It's a GT4 style V2.

*Story time*
My previous one was an GTS1, that I curb rash around the busiest time of the year (Christmas shopping). The lady showed me her parking spot that she was leaving from and I followed her to the spot. She begins to back up her car but not enough due to the car behind her not giving her enough room. I tried to maneuver in the tight space that she gave me an I underestimated myself. Which, resulted me to scrape the side curb and causing it to get torn off the passenger bumper on the corner.

The old lip isn't cracked or damage, so I'll use that as a backup/project to get it back to somewhat good condition.

Finally finished my new front windshield rubber trim replacement. Needed to deal with a minor quality/fitment issue of the trim (purchased from Turner) but it turned out good.

Next up will be the windshield washer reservoir leak...

That lip looks great.

After driving the car yesterday for quite a bit, I have a pretty massive oil filter housing gasket leak from the initial looks of it. Welp
