What have you done with or to your M3 today?

Only had my car since mid December and have been loving every minute. Last week I updated the angel eye lights to leds, installed the Euro style Oem lci tail lights, replaced my 220m wheels with these gunmetal 359’s and retrofitted the F10 M5 shift knob.

Bought a camera scope off Amazon. Anyone got any other tips for tracking down an oil leak?

Couple notes along with the pics I posted above.
- 116k miles
- Oil pan looks clean as rod bearings were done around the 108k mile mark
- Valve covers re-sealed at 105k (re-used valve covers, not new ones)
- Appears to be passenger side only

Looks like an awful lot of oil to be valve covers again already. I plan to eventually replace with new but not going to rush to that conclusion.

Options are, passenger side valve cover or oil filter housing gasket. Any other thoughts?

I am going through the same thing right now. I have had both bank VCG done plus the right side again within 8 months. Passenger side only as well. I checked after heating the car up and a quick run. Corner to corner the passenger side VCG. I had dry fingers afterwards feeling the VCG. I then brought car to indy suspecting oil filter housing gasket. Indy said that was not it. It ended up being the timing chain gasket as well as an oil pump o ring that was leaking as well. Hope this helps.

You can get oil dye to find leaks. Pour the dye into your oil and run the car. The dye color is very distinctive, especially the UV dye.

Based on those pics you and I live fairly close to each other (rough guess). Car looks clean, I love the yellow Stoptechs.

I just picked up an E92 6mt comp the other day and started to tackle a few things that are at the top of my priority list, namely an intake an F10 M5 illuminated shifter to start.

Let surgery begin on the shifter. I drove the car for one day and couldn't take it anymore, it needed to be done immediately.

This shifter is no bueno, it was too low and had 0 weight to it.






Old M5 base.



Transpose original M3 base ring to the M5 boot. Binder clips and super glue. 2 hrs later here she is.



Ah, much better. Shifting is drastically improved with way more engagement and feel.



MS Intake - has nice lil growl to it and a definite audible enhancement.



This should be a crime




A lot more to come, a lot of plans for this car. Got it Tuesday so we're not wasting any time haha.

I'm sure you knew this but those are rechargeable filters. Old one just needed to be cleaned and reoiled.

Yes, but thank you for looking out. I ordered the K&N expecting the stock filter to be in there (my car was recently purchased) and low and behold the k&n was already there. I didn't check before ordering and I already had it there so I just put the new one in. Moving forward I'll probably clean every 10k miles or so.

Replace All new Front Hubs, All 4 Rotors, Brakes and flush Brake fluids and new stud kits. Kiss my $$$ good bye to M taxes. Gotta pay to play!!

Replaced my steering wheel with a like new one and installed aluminum extended paddle shifters. Took about 1.5 hours, with the bulk of the time spent trying to release the airbag.

Yes sir. I would have went OEM but the cost to buy them new, then powder coat them in a Grey/gunmetal was ridiculously expensive and felt like a waste of money.

I was trying to find a beat up set for less that I could have gotten refinished and painted but I didn't want to wait. That being said these seem like they're very nice quality and come with the same exact factory offsets so they look completely original as far as fitment and everything. Very happy with them

I'm interested to know how the Harrop works at 6010ft of elevation in Colorado Springs i.e. boost numbers and wheel horsepower? Just wondering if you have any data. You have a beautiful car by the way.

Car is still apart sjnce I broke the power steering pulley, once I get a new one on I'll let you know.

In my c63 though it made a huge difference in smoothness even at 98k Kilometres
