I'm interested to know how the Harrop works at 6010ft of elevation in Colorado Springs i.e. boost numbers and wheel horsepower? Just wondering if you have any data. You have a beautiful car by the way.
That's arguably the fastest Harrop E9X around, even at altitude. He's got his secrets

Are these replica 359's?
Yes sir. I would have went OEM but the cost to buy them new, then powder coat them in a Grey/gunmetal was ridiculously expensive and felt like a waste of money.

I was trying to find a beat up set for less that I could have gotten refinished and painted but I didn't want to wait. That being said these seem like they're very nice quality and come with the same exact factory offsets so they look completely original as far as fitment and everything. Very happy with them
I'm in the exact same position as you and currently looking at replicas. Same fit/spec as OEM. Now considering CM Wheels as they come in silver, grey and black and I think all three will look great on an alpine white E90.

Yep, that’s where I picked these up. I paid a lot in shipping because I’m in the US but even with shipping costs included they’re a bargain. I love them

Do u have any more pics? The gun metal grey from CM look as if they have a slight bluish hue.

Definitely no blue from what I can see IMO. In the sunlight they’re perfect Gray almost like CF Gray and in overcast or low light conditions they seem to look a little darker on the car but most certainly still Gray. Even a quick look and you would never mistake these for Black wheels. Here’s a few extra pics, hope this helps bud.

Thank you for the kind words.

Performance wise it does quite well. We fitted a high altitude pulley (140MM) a couple years ago and I had Mike tune the car here locally after some running at a local shift sector event and gathering some data. It's about 100hp over the standard kit between the pulley and the tuning. Around 60 from boost increase and another 40 or so after tuning, IIRC. My car is the one featured in the Harrop thread back in June of 19.
Last November I traded my 60K mile 2007 Porsche Cayman S 6MT for a 52K mile 2011 E93 M3 DCT. I don't know what happened, I had the PCS all ready for winter storage and on the possibly last nice day before winter I located this M3 in St. Paul. Damn, I still don't know if I did the right thing, I already miss my PCS, just knowing it won’t be here this spring. I brought the M3 home, got to drive it to work the next morning - nice sunrise! Anyways here she is in my driveway next to her baby brother. Been in the garage all winter - oh yeah!

Awesome Drifter2090's user avatarDrifter2090 !

I have my parts ordered to do this as well as thermostat and water pump. How did the job go? Any tips and tricks? A little intimidated by it but hoping it stops the oily mess under my car so I can finally drive it. Pains me that I only have like 30 miles of seat time on a car I bought lol. But roads are bad from the winter so it's okay.

Anyway, got my motorsport hardware stud conversion in. Had to clean up one thread in the rear with a tap but went just fine.

Also tried motor mounts a second time and got it handled. I think I am still sore from prying that drivers' side in. Old mounts do not look too bad. A little collapsed but the PPI when I bought it made it seem like they needed addressed asap. Oh well. It's done.

It honestly wasn't too bad, I posted my steps on this thread:
https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1312849

I also only have about that many miles on this M3, got it during winter so those miles are from driving it back home and to get an alignment/wash then back to my garage for storage. It's a perfect time to get maintenance done and some nice mods. This is my third M3 but i'm always wanting to pull it out to drive, winter really sucks :(
Myuh gets a brother...

On Saturday, I flew from the Portland OR metro area to Phoenix, met my new friend Kyle and test drove his 2011 e90 in Lemans blue, 6MT, ESS 550 supercharged M3. Completed the transaction (thanks Kyle!) and my father-in-law and I drove 1300 miles north through AZ, the middle of Nevada, and home through eastern and central Oregon. Avoided freeways most of the way, taking state and federal highways that were mostly empty for the season, which was good because we pushed the car HARD for 20 hours of driving.

Something old - 2012 Harrop supercharged space metallic gray e93 in DCT, named Myuh

meets

Something blue - 2011 ESS VT-1 550 supercharged Lemans blue e90 in 6MT, named Rocky

Lots of contrasting thoughts: 6MT v DCT, e93 v e90, Harrop v ESS and unsure at this point whether I keep both or sell/sell-split the Harrop e93.

Congratulations. Boy that was a long drive.. Another scenario is move the Harrop to the E90 M3. Sell the ESS VT-1 kit and possibly the E93 as well and recoup some cash. Unless of course you need both cars. Used car prices are high at the moment, and will remain so for quite a long time, at least in America..

Congrats on getting Rocky. Having had a bit of time in an E92 and an E93 I can say that I enjoyed the E92 every time I was in it. The E93 felt more like a special night out with the top down kind of car. 6MT is great but the bang for your buck DCT tune is worth every dollar spent. And be careful leaving Myuh and Rocky alone overnight in the garage. Wouldn't want them making babies. Or would you? See pic of possible baby. That is Evandro's car cvstar9M3's user avatarcvstar9M3 Not a bad choice if you decided to add a little one :-)

I've been considering that very thing - moving the Harrop to the e90 and either leaving the convertible NA and keeping it or selling the ESS 550 kit and NA e93 separately. I'll need more time but I've only got one garage stall and already tiring of shuttling back and forth.

The Harrop definitely provides more violent acceleration - brutal really - but what I like about the ESS kit is that I can still hear a nice induction howl whereas I'm not a fan of the Harrop whine. Perhaps you can't hear the harrop whine as well in the e90 compared to the e93. I also miss the induction note and the ferocious rev matching when downshifting the DCT mated to a cold air intake/NA setup. The roots blower is a load on the engine so the throttle response there is quite a bit slower on the rev matching - and then of course it's a whine instead of an induction growl that sounds so sweat and scares pedestrians. Such nice problems to have.

I agree the DCT gets more out of the S65 whether SC'd or NA, assuming it's driven in sport/manual mode. And it's nice when I'm tired and want to zone out - or in warm up mode below 4k rpm - I can just leave it in Drive/auto and not worry about it. I installed the DCT tune available from BPM and drive it in level 2 in Auto or level 5 in sport when I engage the M button for 80% of the driving. for some reason the DCT tune gets mixed reviews but the one Mike Benvo offers at BPM seems to be simultaneously solid and thrilling. All that said though, I came to the e93 M3 DCT from a 99 Boxter 5MT and I just couldn't shake the craving for a manual transmission. Before I supercharged a forum member mentioned that if I had the 6MT itch it just wouldn't go away without a manual. One year, a Harrop install, and now an e90 6MT purchase later - he was right!

Tried out some new gear.

Griot's foamer: I've never used a pressure washer cannon so I can't compare, but this handily beats a sponge in the bucket. Super easy to use, clean, and store, very happy for the $40.

Griot's leather cream: Easy to use, smells nice. At first I thought it left the leather a bit glossy for my taste, but after a day it's dried to a rich sheen.

Griot's ceramic window spray: Eh, not sold on this one. Was a pain to get completely streak free. Not sure if that's because I have the spray vs aerosol, but shouldn't matter. I understand the benefits of ceramic on the outside, but not the inside. At least it was free (recent Griot's promo).

Griot's satin tire shine: Pretty nice, gives a subtle and deep, clean look, not an in-your-face gloss/wet shine. So far, so good.
Wasn't today, but went and took some photos.

thanks doc. the port of long beach is one of my favorite places to shoot. lots of interesting backdrops.
I finally got around to installing a AK Motion display I had sitting for over a year ( long story). The cool thing about this one is it can control up to 4 relays. I set one relay up for my water pump for the intercooler to come on when IATs reach a certain temp instead of just running all the time (5 gal tank). Gearbox temp, exhaust temp, ignition, lambda, fuel pressure and a rack of other information can be displayed. I will test this for a while before I sell my old one.

Sir, you have thrown down a gauntlet and threatened every idea of myself as an elite data-driven Germanic heritage former engineer. I bow to you in awe. If anyone needs me, I'll be ripping out my single data display P3 gauge and burying it in my yard...
