Exactly. Well almost. You wait in line among all the pickups, trash trucks and trailers hauling junk, drive right up to the scale house when it is your turn and then tell them:

1. (Digital readout likely visible from your car)
a. "Ooops sorry wrong turn, I'll flip a Ue."
b. "Do you dig my fancy trash hauler? I don't want to enter nor pay so I'll just flip a Ue right up there."
2. (Digital readout not visible - very unlikley)
a. It's a man - flash your "blues" and say "I know what my new car weighs but I'm really trying to figure out if this diet I'm on is working. Can you tell me how much we both weigh?"
b. It's a woman - beg politely for your "number".
:bellyroll:bellyroll That is classic :D

In the interest of research and my M3 curiosity I have an offer for Swamp2 and Hans Delbruck. I have a REBCO 1 Weigh Electronic Scale system and hoist available. If you interested in coming to Mission Viejo we could check the wheel weights (corner weights) and total weights of both cars.

I am also interested in seeing the underside of a M-DTC transmission.

But then one of you will need to take me for a ride in an M-DTC M3.
I would LOVE to do that.... Thank you so much for the offer. swamp?

Ken send me a PM and I'll do the same.
Well, thanks to Ken, swamp and I met up yesterday evening to get on his scales.

I put a full tank of gas in my car at the station less than a block away, so it was tip-top full, without driver.
Here is my C63's weight WITHOUT DRIVER:
Image hosted on: i102.photobucket.com
Image hosted on: i102.photobucket.com

Despite being 4000 lbs even, it is perfectly corner-balanced from the factory. :D Even after I sat in it, it was still exactly corner-balanced!

The C63's weight distribution is 53.3% front, 46.7% rear.
My car is "loaded" with every option. Premium, Multimedia system, AMG leather with memory seats, iPod and TeleAid

After we were on the scales, we rode in and drove each others' cars. I was extremely impressed with the M-DCT transmission. I'm not sure whether to make a separate post, or post a few comments here.... I loved it! Don't let comments in a car rag or on the board give you doubts about this transmission. It's everything you want it to be. :cool!: I have plenty more to say about both cars, as I'm never short of opinions, but I will save them for another thread.

Thanks again Ken... it was great meeting you, your wife and the guys from F-J and Irvine BMW. And thanks swamp for giving me the demo. M-DCT "FTW"!

I posted on this short get together here.
how can it be PERFECTLY corner balanced if its not 50-50. wouldnt perfect be 1000# on each corner?
chirp - chirp - chirp......??

What??? You added the driver to the left seat of the car but yet somehow the weight added to the left seat was distributed equally to the left and right wheels? Unless you are a magician, this is impossible.

I didn't take a pic of the scale when I was in the car. ken wrote down the measurements though.

Total weight = 4101
LF: 1102
+ RR: 948 = 2050

RF: 1081
+ LR: 969 = 2050

I suppose when you're a featherweight, and sit close to the steering wheel... it proves one thing: this car was made for me. :cool!: I guess the scale was actually flashing between 4100 and 4101.

Corner balance = cross weights.
Yes, thank you. I'm glad someone else said it, because no one believes me here anymore. I'm now a "useless" MB-driving "troll."

uh so according to Hans equations

LF + RR should equal RF + LR?

but isnt it also better to have closer to 50 -50 front to rear - so ideal would be

Lf 1000 + RR = 2000 = RF + LR ?
Ok, I learned something today. Thanks.
A friend has corner balancing scales.. so I'll have to try those....since the truck based CAT scale I went to yesterday said 3760lbs with 1/2 a tank..which I figure is about 100lbs too high...
I understand the corner balance - then which is more important - 50-50 or the 56-44 with better corner balance? Its seems one would first strive to balance the car 50-50 and then do the corner balance. ??
Corner balancing in the M3 is almost impossible.....you need a car with adjustable threaded coil overs to effectively corner balance & I belive the shocks-struts on the M3 are fixed...not adjustable....

I understand that with any car, unless you are relocating things like the battery, the only way to do it is with coil overs.

Weight screen shots (a DIFFERENT DAY AND DIFFERENT CONDITIONS) from my scale measurements. These conditions here are no driver and 1/4 tank of fuel.

3549 with only 1/4 tank (say 4 gallons or 24 lbs of gas) vs a full tank (99.6lbs)....so about 3624lbs with a full tank..but what are the options and is the M3 DCT???

Heres mine from yesterday with just a shade over 3/4 tank (estimated 78.5lbs of gas included in numbers)

"Okay my scanner got really stupid....so heres the weights without me...with just over 3/4 tank...

LF 883 RF 957
LR 892 RR 884

Total: 3616lbs
Front: 50.9%
Rear: 49.1%

With me

LF 955 RF 979
LR 970 RR 913

Total 3817lbs (I'm 201lbs)
Front: 50.7%
Rear: 49.3%"

So calculating the weight of the gas your M3 is about 13lbs lighter than mine....so I'm guessing its a DCT coupe with CF roof and probably one less option than mine...my guess is power rear sunshade??

I weight my 6MT at the track today. Stock 19" wheels.

With just a tid bit under 1/2 tank gas and no driver and a bunch of stuff removed from the trunk including the lid lining and the floor mats:

L: 1725.0 lbs
R: 1772.5 lbs

Total Weight: 3497.5 lbs

Estimated Curb Weight (with full tank of gas--9 additional gallons): 3554 lbs

See the bottom of the first post on this thread for everything I removed from the car (anything that has $0 cost associated with it)

Right. Great guesses. I don't have the rear sun shade. My car with a full tank and no driver using the dump scale was 3673, then using the individual corner scales was the number was 3629. I trust the latter number more. Cheers.

haha - I always trust the lower number!
