I have the full Akra as well.

On track, windows down helmet on, I wish it were a tad louder so I'd have another "sensor" to help detect wheel spin on corner exit.

I happened to be at a red light behind another e92 last year, and the driver was reving it up.
I was all "Dang, that thing barks."

I think the sound inside the cabin is just really well insulated.

honestly what bothered me the most is the amount of drone. my current setup has a touch around 2800 rpm, but it's barely noticeable. With the Akra, it was super loud and a solid 400 rpm band from 1600 all the way to 2K. And that's _with_ a bunch of dynamat in the trunk from the PO.

dunno, i was pretty excited to get it on there and just as surprised as you guys to not have liked it.

I would agree with that for sure. Obviously I am usually in the car when it is running, but I do often fire it up and let it run for a minute while I get ready to head out. It is plenty loud outside the car, certainly during the cold start phase. I have a very persnickety HOA so I don't want anything too loud. Plus most tracks and some autoX venues have noise rules, so it works good for me.

I was inspired by M359 restorations to redye my worn out bamboo beige drivers seat in my e92 m3. I used the Colourlock folks in the UK for this kit. While the results aren't perfect (and I forget a good before picture), I think it ended up better than it was before. It has major scrapes, old dye splatters from the PO, and a very very worn bolster (It was completely missing color there). You can see from the corner picture the difference. I'm gonna try to find some smaller foam hobby brushes to get the dye into those smaller crevices.

Not a bad side project for $50. If I were to do a better job, I would take the seat out of the car and use an air sprayer with the leather color to get more even coverage.

Might not do much if the dye is completely worn off, but have you tried Leatherique? A lot of the above just looks like serious soiling, and Leatherique does a great job of rejuvenating that. But, it won't fix cracks or replace color where it's completely gone.

I've heard about it. I think I tried a similar kit from leather honey: https://www.leatherhoney.com/products/leather-care-kit

It definitely put some much needed moisture and softness back into the seats. However, it didn't fix the cracked off color and that's when I stepped up to a colourlock kit.

EDIT - it looks like Leatherique has both redye kits and maintenance kits like the leather honey folks

i assume there's no repairing fuzzing/worn stitching? there's a touch of that on my bolster.

The move would be to order just the rotor rings and hardware. Welcome to post a detailed photo and get some forum feedback. Might save yourself $$$.

Just need the rings, they come with new hardware you just need to transfer the hats.

Appreciate the tip. The clamps was facing the rear, facing about 30 degrees down. Tried to get at it, but had no luck. Dropped it back off at the shop this morning (followed by an appropriate "Son of a *****!" from the mechanic). Picked it up again this evening, seems to have stopped the leak. They had to lift up the manifold to get at it, but at least it's all done now.

Also got a chance to see what the heat soak was like on the way home. 90 degree ambient, stop and go traffic. Picked it up reading 109F, peaked about 120F on the drive. Honestly, it actually didn't seem far off what my Cayenne does in the same scenario, though that is an extremely hot engine.

Edit: Nope, still fluid on the ground. Have confirmed the ESS installed fitting is weeping

ESS said they still think it was the hose, but I can simply reseal the fitting otherwise and that they can reimburse. Shop didn't have time to get to it until next week, so I was in an "F it" mood, and decided to work on it tonight. Got the fitting off, cleaned and resealed. Will let it sit overnight, reassemble tomorrow. Honestly, didn't seem like it was well sealed from them. Hose was on there good after dropping off at the shop, cut off a bit at the end to make sure I get a good clamp. Also, decided it would be good to de-burr the end of the barb. Fingers crossed the issue is fixed.

Will say, location/height of the coolant reservoir makes it pretty easy to get coolant out of the manifold. Definitely some good thinking going on with the design.

Yeah they weren't too shabby everything considered. That was a 40 hr soak in the Florida sun and I do recall Leatherique did take some color with it when cleaning off the rejuvenator so a freshly dyed seat may not be ideal. Haven't tried their dye kit but looking to do so in the near future.

Last week's faint whine from the engine compartment turned into a definitive AC compressor clutch bearing failure this morning with the car sounding like it was hiding an idling diesel engine next to the S65. Ordered a new AC compressor and hell let's replace that 11 year old alternator while we're at it. $900 later, I simply MUST receive Christmas card from FCP Euro this year, lol.

I've just been enjoying driving it this summer. I fully planned to sell this car to put towards a new CTR, but I think I am just going to make it work and have both somehow lol. I can't bring myself to sell the E90...yet

I did pick up a 1995 240sx but I am going to sell that soon hopefully.

A brand new CTR, E90M and a 4Runner TRD Pro sounds like a dream garage for me lol

CTR is a great car for the price. It's home is on the track and I find myself driving the e90 on the streets because it's more entertaining with the stupid sounds and ass waggle. As driveable as a CTR is, I'd rather not have one if it didn't go on the track.
