If you haven't already, the BMS clutch bump stop makes a huge difference with this setup. Makes the clutch pedal feel almost perfect and a 15 dollar mod that takes 10 min to install.
I just removed the clutch helper spring the day after I got the car, is that the same effect?

No, the bump stop limits how far the clutch pedal can be pushed in, so it keeps the bottom end of the travel closer to the engagement point. Super crispy shifts and easy to reverse if you decide you don't like it.

How the hell did I not know about this.

Thanks man!
Replaced the alternator "while I'm in there" en route to changing the ac compressor. Was a little worried i had misdiagnosed the source of the racket and instead had an engine failure on my hands but the compressor pulley sounds like it is chewing on gravel when turned by hand so Good! Now to recover the old refrigerant. Seems like the compressor pulley clutch assembly should come off for a compressor in place replacement of the pulley clutch assembly only but it's got a puny 7mm bolt holding it on that won't budge. Rather than break the new $600 compressor I'll plunge ahead with plan A which was a complete replacement.

The clutch assembly is likely pressed on to the compressors shaft. Is there only 1 7mm bolt?? That may just be a cover? If you can get the pulley off you will save yourself a lot of trouble with the R134 and the added expense of having the system reloaded.

Btw, what do you mean by SGM?
Sparkling Graphite Metallic, the color of your car. One of my favorites. We have it on my daughters E46 vert.
@tbuck's user avatartbuck thanks for the assist. Yeah agreed one of my favorites too and don't see too many pop up so I make sure to point it out when they do.
Been busy making room in the garage for the M3 and somehow the Audi won the battle. To be fair the paint is in much better condition.

I have a pair of Ebay halo LED's that are going on 4 years use. I wouldnt pay the LUX premium.

22%.

Wouldn't want it any shorter and its paired w/F10 knob. UCP is next in the spring.

BTW while I am here one of my Lux8 Angel eye bulbs died yesterday, is it recommended to replace one? Or get a complete new set of 2?

Leaning towards replacing both. The more I read about it the Lux bulbs only last 18 months or so on average. Not impressed for $219.

I may get cheaper ones for $50 if we're talking about new $220 units last a year and a half.

Got a link to the set you have?
Yesterday I pulled my AC compressor and put in a new one. This is a challenging job for a DIYer, having to evacuate (safely) the refrigerant into a capture tank, pull the fan and radiator, and in my case work around a bunch of the Harrop intercooler parts that share space with the AC compressor, lower radiator hose, and power steering lines. Disconnecting the refrigerant lines from the compressor requires accessing the bolts through a tiny window between the subframe and the engine block, pushing aside various hoses and other accessories to get it done. Same procedure in reverse to re-install, but always harder to install than uninstall in that kind of circumstance. It was one of those rare jobs where I found myself wishing I had hired it out but I really struggle handing over my Harrop install to anyone - knowing it has to be put back just so. I pooped out before I could get everything put back together so will tinker on it on the margins of my time this week and get the AC lines vacuumed and recharged and back on the road.

Ron has been in touch and I should be into my Autosolutions short shift kit soon.
I also ordered Autosolutions SSK this week :)
Took it out on some tight backroads over the weekend. First time pushing it hard since installing Brembo GT 380mm kit and faded my Hawk HPS pads after some repeated heavy braking into tight corners. The brake force and feel is obviously MUCH improved over stock, but def want to find some pads that I can't cook up as easily. These are also supposed to be low dust but they're just as if not dustier than the OEM BMW pads. So might as well get something with a bit more bite.

Bought this for my car. Do you know what it is? :)

Anyone changed it on your car?

Looks like a clutch pedal return spring.
Hehe, yes! I had the old version (pre 2009) on my car so I upgraded it and it is a nice improvement :)

Looks great!

As an aside, what phone holder are you using?
Nothing like a 108 degree day to remind you your AC doesn't condition nada... barely had a duck fart in it! I see an evaporator replacement job coming my way in the off season. Anyways 22oz r134a and a vacuum later she's icey cold again..
