^^^ As long as Bullwinkle isn't working on Rocky, he should be just fine! :D

Great to see some new 'faces' bringing content to the forum!

Dropped Rocky off at the shop yesterday - Bavarian House in PDX - to get my Autosolutions short shift kit installed, front control arms replaced, transmission mounts, exhaust hangers, and diff work. Each of which I can do on my own but needed help on an AC issue so figured to treat myself to some clearing of the list on someone else's labor.

Only the second time I've allowed another hand to work on him. Can't stop worrying - Do you think Rocky's ok, all by himself at the shop???? So far nobody in my home will commit to an answer.

Pictured below, Rocky in between washes. Most people give their cars a female name but this Harrop supercharged, high strung 6MT car exudes a male persona with a name like Rocky demonstrating just how much pepper this car has.

Saw another e90 M3 (silverstone) in the wild a mile from the shop. I think that's my first other e90 spotted since moving from the e93, including a handful of BMW CCA events.

Triple check the AS shifter is installed correctly when your car returns. There are dozens of examples of either the shift lever or selector rod in the incorrect orientation.

How would you know its installed incorrectly without taking it all apart?

As I understand- People have installed the shifter backwards which means the shift rod ends up upside down. It rubs against the chassis and vibrates the shifter something fierce.

take off boot and see the curvature of the shift rod.
I just looked at it!
Probably my most interesting gas station encounter…77 gallons to fill that thing up. Amazing.

How's it going fellas? Anyone do anything insanely cool lately?
... Completely forgot that CIC had built in music storage. Let this grandpa HDD do it's thing.

Anyone purchase their car used and judge the previous owner based on the music they stored? My PO was a big Armin Van Buuren fan, which I'm okay with 😄

Picked Rocky up from the shop last night .

I switched from the UUC short shift kit with DSSR shift rod to the Autosolutions 20% reduction kit with 80A bushings and replaced another bushing during the install. As others have said, it's a night and day difference. The mechanism is incredibly tight and precise and my throws are noticeably faster. I need to switch my knob over to the ZHP today and we're good to go. I had skipped replacing the 60k mile old motor mounts because he wanted 6 hours of labor for them and I think there's a reasonable and shorter DIY here to take it on myself. He mentioned they are worn and I imagine probably will see even better shifting when I get that done.

I also had the front control arms replaced (10 piece oem TSW kit on FCPEURO). I'd get some clicking and grinding on slow turns but otherwise I thought the original control arms were reasonably tight. But taking the car out with these fresh out of the box is a completely different experience while steering and even sitting in the lane at 60mph. Very quick response, almost twitchy, and the wheel somehow feels a little lighter which I'm not sure I get but ok.

I've oscillated on doing coilovers and or a catted x pipe and probably will chew on those longer but I'm getting close to having the car dialed in exactly how I want it.

Update to post: well that was fast. After reviewing this DIY: Illuminated ZHP Shift Knob Install https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=312715

I was able to cut my leather boot from my original knob and integrate it into the shifter and ZHP knob. Looks stock to me. I didn't buy an illuminated knob, but it's not really important to me.

Shout out to Shrike360's user avatarShrike360 for sharing his experience with the AS kit at a car club meet, setting this in motion.

The PO of my '08 left the iPod and cable in the console.
I went to hand it to him and he says "I'm good, you can keep it."

Tons of great music on it.

Six hours, wow. Seems a bit much.
Autosolutions 22.5% reduction SSK with F10 M5 knob. This combo really cleans things up. The slop from the OEM shifter setup is gone and feels precise and dare I say competitive with a OEM Honda shifter. The M5 knob gets rid of the hollow plasticky feel of the OEM knob. Two greatest must have mods.

Btw the autosolutions ssk install isn't even bad. Doable at home in a few hours.

I agree completely. Autosolutions SSK with ZHP knob, Harrop supercharger, Corsa exhaust with test pipes my top three favorite mods.
Well, the car reminded me to respect the supercharger speed and crisper road conditions today (on PS4S'). Very shaded back road morning run, being a little too aggressive. Downhill, medium left turn, came in hot. Hard on the brakes, bleeding them off as I turn in. Front tires grip, then as the rear tires followed, their lateral traction just disappeared. Rear end changes zip codes. Was able to gather it all up, somehow. Expected to do a 180. 275s up front seem to be a necessity to keep it straight. Luckily no oncoming traffic, just walked away with a bruised ego instead of ending up in the ditch. Good reminder to respect the damned thing and not be an idiot.

May also need to re-evaluate if I need some good performance all seasons to keep around for these times of year. Had something similar happen early in the year on a low 50 F day (while NA). Slight steering input to change lane, planted it, and rear end just stepped out. These PS4S' just seem to drop lateral grip as you get close to 50.

Agreed 100%. The install isn't bad at all. I did my second one in about an hour on jackstands.

Mine was loaded with EDM and other hip hop/DJ sounding stuff. PO from the Twin Cities. :confused2
I was getting condensation in the passenger headlight after every high pressure wash and knew I would need to crack it open for a new seal. Might as well do both and upgrade the halos while I'm in there.

I bought the DTM halo kit from Precision Raceworks which included new butyl rubber seals. Installation was straight forward, everything fit really well.

I'm happy with how it turned out. A few car washes later and NO condensation.
Didn't want to pay 6 hours book rate of labor for it, so I replaced my motor mounts today with Revshift 80A, described as OEM+. Maybe a touch of additional vibration in a couple rev ranges but overall smoother shifting from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3, so mission accomplished. No noise or harshness appreciated.

For the record job took me 4 hours.

I had a heck of a time getting the old ones out and used a long blade sawzall to make the job more feasible but one of the lines across the rubber is a split from aging and use.

With the exception of tuning the gain on my new digital amplifier, I'm all caught up on my work list.
