Haha......I shot this at Arches last Sep. Great minds think alike.
Oy. That's what scares me about going to National Parks these days. Last time were were at Arches, it was practically deserted.
M_Six wroteWe had a timed entry for 11 - noon. We got in line about 11:20 down by the sign at the turn-off. It was a 50 min. 2 line crawl to the entry booth. The visitor center was packed, but the rest of the park was manageable. We'll, except for the Windows area. That's always a mess.Oy. That's what scares me about going to National Parks these days. Now that I think about it, it was Oct 3rd. The last day for timed entries last year.

So a few days and 1500 miles of driving has taken us from high 80's and palm trees to this. Got home at 10 last night after 13 hours of driving, our driveway hasn't been plowed so had to park up on the road, I'm going to have some quality time with the snow blower today. On the upside Woody likes the snow.
So is that your full time home?

M_Six wroteThank you. My wife and I have moved a lot, we always have bought oddball homes, never the typical home. It's the biggest house we've ever had but it's cozy if that makes sense.I'll bet. My idea of a perfect house.

Esteban wroteIt's true. I have to say that I hate winter, too many years working outside in the cold shitty weather. But when we're inside and its a blizzard and we have a big fire going there is a very comfortable vibe going on.People make it cozy.

M_Six wroteQuick phone snap of "Icare" by Henri Matisse that I took last month at an Italian museum of modern and contemporary art.
Matisse included this vibrant "pochoir" (1946) in his his "Jazz" art book (1947). He was 76 at that time. The text on the left is just the final page of 7 pages of personal thoughts (hence, can only be better understood if you also read the 6 previous pages of a chapter he entitled "L'Avion" ["The Airplane"]).
IMHO it's about freedom and putting things into perspective (despite the Icarus title refering to 'hubris'). It resulted from his personal observation of a temporary, grand, majestic feeling of ultimate freedom and awe experienced instantly after ascending through the clouds with an airplane ("the splendor of the sun as well as the perception of unlimited space (...) a moment so free." - "la splendeur du soleil ainsi que la perception de l'espace illimité (...) un moment si libres.").
