Hey everyone,

I've had my M3 for a few days and I've decided that it's not quite loud enough for me.

The current setup is a Dinan muffler. The rest of the exhaust is completely stock.

I'm new to the E92 platform, so I'm unfamiliar with x-pipes, test pipes, etc. I know the exhaust has 4 resonators and two sets of cats, but I definitely don't want to delete the primary cats. I'm also not looking to make the car smell bad just for more volume.

What is your opinion if I want to add more volume, but don't want any drone?

Thanks!

I’ve had both test pipes and an RKP Sport with a Dinan rear. Can’t go wrong with either. I do prefer the RKP Sport though.

Yeah, OP, plenty of content on that subject, enough to give you something to read for months I would bet....

He said he wants to keep the primaries....
remus race h pipe if you want to keep oem primaries, RKP that keeps primaries is NLA.
Thank you for the suggestions so far!

Honestly, there’s almost too much content on this subject lol. Reading through dozens of pages of threads makes my head hurt.

I’ll check those two suggested at the top!
OP you said you just bought this car. Did the previous owner replace the Rod Bearings? If not I would focus on that first and motor mounts!

That was the first thing I did before I had the car transported up from NC!

Engine Oil 10w60 1-Liter
Engine Oil Filter
Oil Pan Gasket
Oil Pick up Tube Gasket
Oil Pick up Tube Gasket
Motor Mounts
BE Bearings
ARP Rod Bolts BE Spec

Then a new set of Continental DWS06 Plus 255/275 tires for the OEM ZCP wheels.
I have also done RKP + Dinan, AA + Dinan and test pipes + Dinan. Prefer the test pipes personally.

How is the smell? What tune did you go with?

I was running a custom tune. Worked great. Smell is fine with secondaries.

Now I am still running test pipes with Dinan and an ESS G1. :)

Is your x-pipe stock? I thought because the primary cats are 400 cell, the smell will be really prevalent with test pipes. Any sound clips? You can PM me and I’ll give you my number to send some videos!

Yeah. Stock. The secondaries do a good job IMHO. So did the catted AA and RKP.

Send me a pm with your number and I can see if I have some audio tracks.

I read a few reviews talking about the lack of ground clearance with the AA w/GESi cats. Also, it’s $2800 lol. Sending you a PM!

Exact reason I got rid of mine. Clearance sucked.
Best x pipe that is catted and has no clearance issues still available for this platform is the evolve x pipe. It does go on sale from time to time
I have the M sport inconel exhaust combined with the Eventuri carbon intake. Sounds amazing, quiet on the highway, zero drone and OEM fit.

I had a similar setup and 100% agree!
