Mr12Volt with Factory Mic - worth it?

Curious if anyone has installed the new mr12volt model yet that uses a splitter to receive input from the BMW factory microphone. Does it work as seamlessly as the last model? I've been running calls through the mr12volt mic and people can hear me but say it's not ideal, but otherwise it works smoothly and I love the wireless carplay system.

I currently have P2000 installed, and wondering if I should swap it. My P2000 is having some issues, so maybe worth to upgrade instead?

I felt this warranted a separate thread since the 71-page thread is focused on other topics lol.

How long does the install take anyway? Easiest way to code CD changer? I have Protool, never used other tools…

I used Bimmercode and their recommended bluetooth OBDII device. Not the cheapest but it worked.

I'd say around 3 hours if it's your first time, maybe a lil more. I dilly-dallied and it took almost 4. If you have experience removing and replacing the trim pieces it will go faster.

EDIT: that time did not include cameras. Those I still have not done yet.

I'm patiently waiting to see how your experiences are will this unit.

I've swapped 3 carplay modules in my car already, I only want to do it again if it is the ultimate carplay module that checks all the boxes.

My current setup is AUX with OE mic splitter and the previous Mr12V didn't have that. Now MR12V checks all the boxes!

Recap for others: New mr12volt which adds OE mic integration is much clearer than older versions with added mic. Not quite OEM quality in terms of clarity but roughly 3/4 of the way there.

Sounds like everything else operates like the other versions.

Sounds like I may be upgrading.

I tested it a few more times with more people and different ambient noises, they are saying more like ALMOST as OEM, so more than 3/4

Another thing which is driving me crazy is that it is the other way around - I can hear the person on the other side 30% worse through Carplay than default OEM CIC, maybe there are some weird settings on my iPhone, will look into it… It sounds like there is a slightly weaker reception, if you know what I mean.

Mic was partially the problem. Mostly, the unit has a very slight voltage issue and causes my dash to occasionally go into restart mode.

I do notice the calls on my end are 30% quieter. Like I usually have to turn up the volume.

One thing is that is it quieter, but the quality is much worse in my case… Don’t understand it, but will figure it out
